This European Standard describes a method to calculate the power and the storage volume required for the dimensioning of domestic hot water systems (DHW). The applicability ranges from direct water heaters (no storage volume and a comparatively large effective heating power) to larger storage systems with a comparatively small heating power and large storage volumes.
This European Standard is applicable to the following water storage systems:
-   storage systems characterized by a minimal mixing zone, (such as stratified charging storage tanks or storage tanks with external heat exchangers): these systems are nominated in this standard as "charging storage systems";
-   storage tank water heaters and warm water storage tanks with a pronounced mixing zone (such as DHW storage tanks with internal heat exchangers), nominated in this standard as "mixed storage systems";
and for different uses.
The Scope also includes standardization methods for determining the energy need for domestic hot water. This European Standard covers the domestic hot water needs in buildings.
The calculation of the energy needs for DHW-Systems applies to residential and non-residential buildings, a building or a zone of a building.

This European Standard provides a calculation method for the economic issues of heating systems and other systems that are involved in the energy demand and consumption of the building. It applies to all types of new and existing buildings.
The fundamental principles and terminology are explained in the standard.
The main items of the standard will be:
-   the definitions and the structure of the types of costs which should be taken into account for the calculation of the economic efficiency of saving options in buildings;
-   data needed for definition of costs related to systems under consideration;
-   the calculation method(s);
-   expression of the result of the economic study.
This European Standard is part of the method for calculation of economic performance of energy saving options in buildings (e.g. insulation, better performing generators and distribution systems, efficient lighting, renewable sources, combined heat and power...).
The scope of this specific part is to standardize:
-   the required inputs;
-   the required outputs;
-   the calculation formulas;
-   the type of energy systems concerned with the energy performance of the building.
NOTE 1   This is the revision of EN 15459:2007. The revision has been made consistent with the EU regulation on cost-optimal. This revision includes the definition of payback for investment, and inclusion of the costs due to the deconstruction of the building. The method presenting annualized costs has been suppressed.
NOTE 2   This standard does not consider financial advantages for higher productivity, higher attractiveness for tenants due to higher indoor comfort, when relevant for comparison of different options.

This European standard defines a method for the performance assessment of building-integrated cogeneration units by the calculation of the electricity production, useful heat output and recoverable losses. Such units are commonly known as micro or small scale cogeneration, or micro or small scale CHP.
A building-integrated cogeneration, is a cogeneration unit installed to supply space heating, domestic hot water and possibly cooling within a building. It could operate as the only heating/cooling appliance of the building or in combination with other heat generators, such as boilers or electrical chillers. Unlike district heating systems, where heat and electricity are generated at central plants and transmitted through networks to a number of remote buildings, a building-integrated cogeneration unit produces useful heat for uses within the building. The electricity produced by the integrated cogeneration unit may be used within the building or may be exported.
This standard deals with heat generators for heating or for combined domestic hot water and heating services.
The calculation is based on the performance characteristics of the units, defined in product standards, and on operation conditions such the needed heat output.

This European Standard is the general frame for the calculation of the energy use and the energy performance of heating and domestic hot water systems. This standards is only dealing with the heat, provided by water based systems, needed for heating, domestic hot water and cooling (e.g. absorption chiller).
It specifies how to perform the calculation of the entire installation using the calculation modules (see Table 2) corresponding to the methods defined in the respective standards.
It deals with common issues like operating conditions calculation and energy performance indicators.
It standardises the inputs and outputs in order to achieve a common European calculation method.
It allows the energy analysis of the heating and Domestic hot water systems and sub-systems including control (emission, distribution, storage, generation) by comparing the system losses and by defining energy performance indicators.
The performance analysis allows the comparison between systems and sub-systems and makes possible to evaluate the impact of each sub-system on the energy performance of a building.
The calculation of the system losses of each part of the heating sub-systems is defined in subsequent standards.
Ventilation systems are not included in this standard (e.g. balanced systems with heat recovery), but if the air is preheated or an air heating system is installed, the systems providing the heat to the AHU (Air Handling Unit) are covered by this standard.

-   storage systems characterized by a minimal mixing zone, (such as stratified charging storage tanks or storage tanks with external heat exchangers): these systems are nominated in this standard as "charging storage systems";
-   storage tank water heaters and warm water storage tanks with a pronounced mixing zone (such as DHW storage tanks with internal heat exchangers), nominated in this standard as "mixed storage systems";
and for different uses.
The Scope also includes standardization methods for determining the energy need for domestic hot water. This European Standard covers the domestic hot water needs in buildings.
The calculation of the energy needs for DHW-Systems applies to residential and non-residential buildings, a building or a zone of a building.

The purpose of this standard is to:
   collate results from other standards that specify calculation of energy consumption within a building;
   account for energy generated in the building, some of which may be exported for use elsewhere;
   present a summary on tabular form of the overall energy use of the building;
   specify calculation of primary energy consumption and carbon dioxide emission for the building as a whole;
   establish general principles for the calculation of primary energy factors and carbon dioxide emission factors.
This standard will provide:
a definition of system boundaries (e.g. building, installations, energy supply) and calculation periods;
general definition of the overall energy use (i.e. determine which services are taken into account within the system boundaries);
definition of energy terms (energy use, primary energy, etc.);
definition of the data interfaces with other standards in order to report the overall energy use of buildings;
general procedures for taking into consideration decentralised energy production based on renewable energy and CHP (combined heat and power production), e.g. to show how on-site energy generation offsets energy demand;
identification of the energy streams across system boundaries;
principles for assessing primary energy consumption and CO2 emission of buildings (i.e. principles for determining primary energy factors and carbon dioxide emission factors);
general principles for taking into account the interactions between the different energy uses (e.g. calculation of recovered losses and gains).
The objective of specifying the details of the energy performance calculation for a building is to:
- underline the particularity of a project (e.g. efforts made on bioclimatic design);
- show the strong and the weak points in the overall energy performance of the building and to highlight potential gains:
- distinguish between thermal uses and specific electrical uses;
- indicate the outputs required f

This standard provides a calculation method for the economical issues of heating systems and other systems that are involved in the energy demand and energy consumption of the building. This standard applies to all types of buildings.
The fundamental principles and terminology are explained in this standard.
The main items of the standard are:
-   definitions and structure of the types of costs, which shall be taken into account for calculation of the economical efficiency of saving options in buildings;
-   data needed for definition of costs related to systems under consideration;
-   calculation method(s);
-   expression of the result of the economic calculation;
-   informative annexes indicating default values of e.g. lifetime, costs for repair, costs for maintenance, in order to introduce default values for calculations.
This standard is applicable to calculation of economic performance of energy saving options in buildings (e.g. insulation, better performing generators and distribution systems, efficient lighting, renewable sources, combined heat and power).
The scope of this standard is to standardise:
-   required inputs;
-   calculation methods;
-   required outputs
for economic calculations of energy systems related to the energy performance of buildings.
NOTE   Sensitivity of results increases with the number of parameters under consideration (e.g. lifetime, interest rates, development of different types of costs). The more parameters one changes when comparing different solutions, the more difficult it is to draw conclusions from the economic results of the calculations.
Economical results are closely related to the specific project under consideration, and no general conclusions should be drawn from any such results.

The scope of this European Standard is to standardise the required inputs, the outputs and the links (structure) of the calculation method in order to achieve a common European calculation method.
The energy performance may be assessed either by values of the heat emission system efficiency or by values of the increased space temperatures due to heat emission system inefficiencies.
The method is based on an analysis of the following characteristics of a space heating emission system, including control:
-   non-uniform space temperature distribution;
-   heat emitters embedded in the building structure;
-   control accuracy of the indoor temperature.
The energy required by the emission system is calculated separately for thermal energy and electrical energy, in order to facilitate determination of the final energy and subsequently the corresponding primary energy according to other standards.
