Safety of machinery - Safety requirements for the design and construction of paper making and finishing machines - Part 8: Refining plants
This European Standard applies to low consistency refining plants, i.e. plants working with suspensions of fibres of virgin pulp, mechanical wood pulp or deinking pulp in water with a consistency up to approximately 6 %, used in the paper making process and applies together with EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010. It deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and hazard events relevant to refining plants, when used as intended and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer (see Clause 4).
This standard does not apply to beaters.
This document is not applicable to machines which are manufactured before the date of publication of this document by CEN.

Diese Europäische Norm gilt für Mahlanlagen mit niedriger Stoffdichte, d. h. Anlagen für Suspensionen aus natürlichem Zellstoff, mechanischem Holzstoff oder Deinking-Stoff in Wasser mit einer Stoffdichte von bis zu etwa 6 %, die in der Papierherstellung verwendet werden, und gilt zusammen mit EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010. Sie behandelt alle signifikanten Gefährdungen, Gefährdungssituationen und Gefährdungsereignisse für Mahlanlagen, die bestimmungsgemäß und unter den vom Hersteller vorherzusehenden Bedingungen verwendet werden (siehe Abschnitt 4).

La présente Norme européenne s'applique aux ateliers de raffinage à basse concentration, c’est-à-dire les ateliers de traitement de suspensions aqueuses contenant au plus approximativement 6 % de fraction massique de fibres de pâte vierge, de pâte de bois mécanique ou de pâte désencrée, utilisés dans le processus de fabrication du papier. Cette norme doit être appliquée conjointement avec l'EN 1034 1:2000+A1:2010. Elle traite de l’ensemble des phénomènes dangereux et situations et événements dangereux qui concernent les ateliers de raffinage, quand ceux-ci sont utilisés normalement et dans les conditions prévues par le fabricant (voir Article 4).

The machinery concerned and the extent to which hazards, hazardous situations and events are covered are indicated in the scope of this document. For machines that have been designed and built according to the provisions of this C standard, the following stipulation applies: Where provisions of this type C standard are different from those which are stated in type A or B standards or from provisions made in EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010 the provisions of this type C standard take precedence over the provisions of the other standards.
