Electrical accessories - Methodology for determining the energy efficiency class of electrical accessories
IEC 63172:2020 provides a methodology for determining the energy efficiency class of electrical accessories, to enable the system designer to determine the most efficient components for an electrical installation, also considering all functionalities. This methodology is based on the energy consumption, taking into account the individual functions of the accessory. The energy efficiency class approach contributes to the overall reduction of the energy consumption of an electrical installation.

L'IEC 63172:2020 fournit une méthodologie permettant de déterminer la classe d'efficacité énergétique du petit appareillage, afin de permettre au concepteur du système de déterminer les composants les plus efficaces pour une installation électrique en prenant également en considération l'ensemble des fonctionnalités. Cette méthodologie est fondée sur la consommation d'énergie et prend en compte les fonctions individuelles de l'appareil. L'approche par la classe d'efficacité énergétique contribue à la réduction générale de la consommation d'énergie d'une installation électrique.

accessories
FOREWORD
1) The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a worldwide organization for standardization comprising
all national electrotechnical committees (IEC National Committees). The object of IEC is to promote international
co-operation on all questions concerning standardization in the electrical and electronic fields. To this end and
in addition to other activities, IEC publishes International Standards, Technical Specifications, Technical Reports,
Publicly Available Specifications (PAS) and Guides (hereafter referred to as "IEC Publication(s)"). Their
preparation is entrusted to technical committees; any IEC National Committee interested in the subject dealt with
may participate in this preparatory work. International, governmental and non-governmental organizations liaising
