Frequently Asked Questions
ICS 61.060 is a classification code in the International Classification for Standards (ICS) system. It covers "Footwear". The ICS is a hierarchical classification system used to organize international, regional, and national standards, facilitating the search and identification of standards across different fields.
There are 646 standards classified under ICS 61.060 (Footwear). These standards are published by international and regional standardization bodies including ISO, IEC, CEN, CENELEC, and ETSI.
The International Classification for Standards (ICS) is a hierarchical classification system maintained by ISO to organize standards and related documents. It uses a three-level structure with field (2 digits), group (3 digits), and sub-group (2 digits) codes. The ICS helps users find standards by subject area and enables statistical analysis of standards development activities.

SIGNIFICANCE AND USE
4.1 The materials and construction methods used in the manufacture of footwear play a significant role in the “breathability” of the footwear. This test method provides a means to measure moisture vapor permeability, expressed as MVTR, which is one aspect of comfort of the footwear.
SCOPE
1.1 The whole boot breathability test method is designed to indicate the Moisture Vapor Transmission Rate (MVTR) through the boot upper by means of a difference in temperature and moisture vapor concentration between the interior of the boot and the exterior environment. This method is intended for a size 10 R U.S. (Regular width) boot that is at least 6 in. [15.2 cm] tall above the insole.
1.2 The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI units are to be regarded separately as standard. Within the text, the SI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in each system are not exact equivalents; therefore, each system is to be used independently of the other, without combining values in any way. Combining values from the two systems may result in non-conformance with the standard.
1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

This document provides three shoe size conversion tables covering the major shoe sizing systems (Mondopoint, European and United Kingdom), as well as China, Japan, the Republic of Korea and United States. The tables are based on measurement of foot length, this being the logical starting point for any shoe size marking system. The tables contain the following information: Table 1 - Adults’ technical shoe size conversion; Table 2 - Adults’ recommended shoe size marking (simplified); Table 3 - Children's size conversion. NOTE Due to the different ways in which each system has been developed and interpreted over many years without being formalized and the absence of solution to the problem of shoe size conversions, Tables 1 and 2 provide a guideline which can benefit the consumer.

SIGNIFICANCE AND USE
3.1 This test method is intended to estimate the water resistance of shoe upper leather. The flex imparted to the leather is similar to the flex given the vamp of the shoe in actual wear.
Note 1: There is an indication that this test method cannot be used interchangeably for specification purposes with Test Method D2098.
SCOPE
1.1 This test method covers the determination of the dynamic water resistance of shoe upper leather by the Maeser water penetration tester. It is applicable to all types of shoe upper leather. Certain waterproof processes can cause contamination of the stainless steel balls. When this happens, visual inspection is recommended. This test method does not apply to wet blue.
1.2 Initial water penetration and water absorption can be measured by this test method.
1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.
1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
1.5 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

This document specifies a test method for measuring the force required to pull a single heel pin out of a heel. This test method is used both to measure the heel pin holding strength of heel materials by using a standard heel pin and a method of insertion, and to assess the heel nailing of commercial production.
This test method is applicable to testing plastics and wooden heels for women’s footwear. Heels composed of layers of fibreboard or leather and low plastics heels for men’s footwear cannot be tested by this method.

ABSTRACT
This specification covers the standard physical property requirements and test methods for urethane microcellular materials intended for shoe soling applications. It covers three grades of polyurethane materials that may be selected for use according to abrasion resistance, cut-growth resistance, and other physical properties. Materials shall be subjected to physical tests and shall conform to the requirements for physical properties such as density, tensile strength, ultimate elongation, tear, hardness, cut-growth resistance, and taper abrasion or wear index.
SCOPE
1.1 This specification covers microcellular polyurethane materials for shoe soling applications. It provides physical property requirements and identifies test methods for determining those specific properties.
1.2 SI units are to be regarded as the preferred units of measurements for values. The inch-pound values in parentheses can be used if there is an agreement between the contractual parties.
Note 1: There is no known ISO equivalent to this standard.
1.3 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
