This European Standard provides all of the information required in order to efficiently perform, and in standardized conditions, the determination, the declaration and the verification of noise emission values of refuse collection vehicles.
The use of this annex ensures the reproducibility of the determination of noise emission values within the limits established for the accuracy grade of the basic standard used to determine noise emission values. The methods used to determine these noise emission values, corresponding to this normative annex, are grade 2 accuracy measurement methods.
This standard deals with the noise measurement conditions for the types of RCVs defined and described in the standards of the EN 1501 series

This European Standard applies to machines used for road service area maintenance which are attached to or mounted on carrier vehicles (e.g. tractor, truck), or which are self-propelled machinery and which are defined in Clause 3. Directives and standards for the vehicular truck or tractor chassis aspect, termed 'carrier vehicle' in this standard, would be those relevant to that equipment.
For machinery which are a combination of a grass/brush-cutting attachment and a carrier-vehicle, this part of the standard applies to the grass or brush cutting attachment itself and with all health and safety requirements of the interaction and effects between attachment and the carrier vehicle when used together (e.g. stability, visibility).
For self-propelled machinery, this part only deals with health and safety requirements of the attachment itself and does not deal with the self-propelled machinery itself which are dealt with in EN 17106 1.
NOTE 1 Road regulations or Directive apply to vehicular truck and tractor.
NOTE 2 The use in public road traffic is governed by the national regulations.
This European Standard deals with all significant hazards identified through a risk assessment pertinent to road service area maintenance machines, when they are used as intended and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer (see Clause 4). This European Standard does not deal with significant hazards associated with EMC. This European Standard specifies the appropriate technical measures to eliminate or reduce risks arising from the significant hazards associated with machine operation, setting and adjustments, load discharge and routine maintenance.
This European Standard does not include requirements for the carrier vehicles (e.g. trucks, tractors, construction machines, industrial trucks). These are covered in directives related to the construction of vehicles.
This European Standard does not deal with:
— walker-operated and hand-held machines;
— machines for the maintenance of sports grounds;
— machines for agriculture, horticulture and forestry;
— pit and sewer cleaning vehicles/-machines;
— grass and brush cutting machines with multiple cutting heads (see Annex A, Clause C.2, Figure C.20)

— self-propelled remote controlled machinery used for forestry application (see Annex A, Clause C.2, Figure C.21)
— cleansing and ditch maintenance machines (see Annex A, Clause C.2, Figure C.24 and C.25)
A machine which is a combination of several parts with different uses should conform to all the standards referring to the corresponding parts of the machine.
This document, together with part 1, deals with all significant hazards for road service area maintenance machines – grass and brush cutting machines when they are used as intended and under the conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer associated with the whole life time of the machine (see Clause 4).
The requirements of this part are complementary to the common requirements formulated in prEN 17106 1:2017.
This document does not repeat the requirements from prEN 17106 1:2017, but adds or replaces the requirements for application for grass and brush cutting machines.
This European Standard does not deal with the risks associated with the operation of machines in potentially explosive atmospheres.
This standard applies to machines manufactured after the date of approval of this standard through CEN.

This document specifies a uniform, reproducible testing process for various drive units, chassis, constructions and lifting devices for the refuse collection vehicles described in EN 1501 (all parts, excluding EN 1501-4), with which a comparison for energy consumption can be performed. This specification defines criteria for a reference area with regard to a synthesized tour (test circuit). This therefore serves to determine a representative test circuit and/or data for a software calculation tool, e.g. VECTO[1]. NOTE VECTO (Vehicle Energy Consumption calculation TOol) is a simulation tool that has been developed by the European Commission for determining CO2 emissions and fuel consumption from heavy duty vehicles with a gross vehicle mass above 3 500 kg. This European Standard establishes a method to assess the PM10 and PM2,5 efficiency of road sweepers. PM10 and PM2,5 efficiency includes a sweeper’s ability to:
- Remove and capture PM10 and PM2,5 particulate matter, and coarse size fractions, from typical urban road surfaces;
- Minimize the amount of airborne and entrained PM10 and PM2,5 particulate matter resulting from the sweeping process.
The sweeper’s ability to remove and capture particulate matter and coarse size fractions is assessed using procedures and equipment to determine the amount of a test material (consisting of particulate matter and coarser size fractions) the sweeper is able to remove from a test surface during a controlled test run. This test measurement is used to calculate the removal efficiency for the sweeper.
The sweeper’s ability to minimize the amount of airborne and entrained particulate matter is also assessed using procedures and equipment to determine the airborne concentrations of PM10 and PM2,5 resulting from the sweeping of a test material (consisting of particulate matter and coarser size fractions) during a controlled test run. The test measurements are used to calculate PM10 and PM2,5 emission ratings for the sweeper.
This test allows the use of dust suppression water. Sweepers configured as flushing machines, or equipped with front-mounted spray bars which are not part of a dust suppression water system are not within the scope of this test.
The road sweeper’s performance results are reported in a quantitative numerical format that will allow comparative assessments of similarly classified sweepers. This test does not specify pass/fail criteria for the PM10 and PM2,5 efficiency measurements specified in the test procedure.
This test is applicable to truck mounted, self-propelled, towed and attached sweeping equipment as defined in EN 15429-1:2007, Clause 2.
This test is a model/type test, requiring the sweeper being tested to be representative of all factory production of that particular sweeper model.
