ISO/TC 297 - Waste collection and transportation management
Standardization of machines, equipment and management systems for collection, temporary storage and transportation of solid and sanitary liquid waste and recyclables (valuables). Taking into particular account: Terminology; Technology; Performance; Quality; Environmental aspects; Safety and ergonomic aspects; Maintenance; Logistical aspects; Data management and Service procedures. Excluded are: Urban wastewater systems Sludge recovery, treatment and disposal and also water re-use as far as they are covered by ISO/TC 275 and ISO/TC 282 General environmental management (e.g. ISO 14000) and road traffic safety management systems aspects (e.g. ISO 39001) are covered by ISO/TC 207 and ISO/TC 241 Road maintenance equipment are covered by ISO/TC 195/SC 2 Road vehicles are covered by ISO/TC 22.

Normalisation des machines, équipements et systèmes de gestion pour la collecte ou le transport, le transit ou le regroupement temporaires, des déchets solides résiduels ou valorisables, ou des déchets liquides d’assainissement. En prenant en compte tout particulièrement: la terminologie, la technologie, la performance, la performance, les aspects environnementaux, les aspects de sécurité et d'ergonomie, la maintenance, les aspects logistiques, la gestion des données, et les modes opératoires d'entretien. Sont exclus: les systèmes de collecte des eaux usées urbaines, la valorisation, le traitement et l'élimination des boues, ainsi que le recyclage des eaux (réutilisation) dans la mesure où ces sujets sont traités par l'ISO/TC 275 et l'ISO/TC 282, le management environnemental d'un point de vue général (par ex ISO 14000) et des aspects relatifs aux systèmes de management de la sécurité routière (par ex ISO 39001), qui sont couverts par l'ISO/TC 207 et l'ISO/TC 241, l'équipement pour l'entretien des routes, qui est couvert par l'ISO/TC 195/SC 2, les véhicules routiers, qui sont couverts par l'ISO/TC 22.
General Information
This document specifies methods for preventing the spread of waste odour and the leakage of leachate during the collection and transportation of waste in refuse collection vehicles (RCVs), when the control of the spread of waste odour and leakage of leachate is required in order to protect the surrounding environment. This document is not applicable in cases when it is not necessary to provide control of waste odour or leachate due to the composition or packaging of waste and there is no influence on the environment due to the loaded waste.

This document provides general requirements, recommendations and examples of safety methods to ensure the safety of operation of manual and rear-loaded refuse collection vehicles (RCVs). This document applies to manual and rear-loaded RCVs with rotating plate loading systems, compression plate loading systems and rotating drum loading systems, and covers methods for ensuring safety with regard to the loading systems and discharge systems. This document applies to the design and manufacture of manual and rear-loaded RCVs to ensure that they can be operated, adjusted and maintained such that they function properly. This document is not applicable to the handling of loads the nature of which can lead to dangerous situations (e.g. hot refuse, acids and bases, radioactive materials, contaminated refuse, especially fragile loads, explosives).

This document specifies a uniform, reproducible testing process for various drive units, chassis, constructions and lifting devices for the refuse collection vehicles described in EN 1501 (all parts, excluding EN 1501-4), with which a comparison for energy consumption can be performed. This specification defines criteria for a reference area with regard to a synthesized tour (test circuit). This therefore serves to determine a representative test circuit and/or data for a software calculation tool, e.g. VECTO[1]. NOTE VECTO (Vehicle Energy Consumption calculation TOol) is a simulation tool that has been developed by the European Commission for determining CO2 emissions and fuel consumption from heavy duty vehicles with a gross vehicle mass above 3 500 kg.
