ISO 15239:2005 sets out practices for the evaluation of the measurement performance of all types of on-line analysers for solid mineral fuel.  
It presents information on the different types of analyser currently available and describes procedures for the evaluation of various aspects of measurement performance, appropriate methods of test and techniques for the statistical assessment of the data collected.

ISO 13318-3:2004 describes a method for determining the particle size distributions of homogeneous particulate material using centrifugal sedimentation in a liquid. Solids concentrations are determined by the attenuation of an X-ray beam. The resulting signal enables conversion to a particle size distribution.
The method of determining the particle size distribution described in this standard is applicable to powders which can be dispersed in liquids or powders which are present in slurry form. The typical particle size range for analysis is from 0,1 m to 5 m. The method is applicable to powders in which all particles have the same effective density, chemical composition and comparable shapes. Materials possessing elements with an atomic number greater than about 12 can be expected to produce adequate X-ray opacity. Particles should not undergo chemical or physical change in the suspension liquid. It is necessary that the particles have a higher density than that of the liquid.

ISO 9516-1:2003 sets out a wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence procedure for the determination of iron, silicon, calcium, manganese, aluminium, titanium, magnesium, phosphorus, sulfur, potassium, tin, vanadium, chromium, cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc, arsenic, lead and barium in iron ores. The method has been designed to cope with iron ores having high ignition losses.
The method is applicable to iron ores regardless of mineralogical type.

The main objective of ISO 9276-5:2005 is to provide the background for the representation of a cumulative particle size distribution which follows a logarithmic normal probability distribution, as a means by which calculations performed using particle size distribution functions may be unequivocally checked. The design of logarithmic normal probability graph paper is explained, as well as the calculation of moments, median diameters, average diameters, and volume-specific surface area. Logarithmic normal probability distributions are often suitable for the representation of cumulative particle size distributions of any dimensionality. Their particular advantage lies in the fact that cumulative distributions, such as number-, length-, area-, volume- or mass-distributions, are represented by parallel lines, all of whose locations may be determined from a knowledge of the location of any one.

ISO 8858-2:2004 sets out a laboratory sequential procedure for the froth flotation testing of fine coal, e.g. coal having a particle size of less than 0,5 mm. The procedure provides a means of evaluating for a coal the flotation characteristics (expressed as a yield/ash relationship) that may be expected from the froth flotation process.
Pulp samples that cannot be dewatered without the use of heat or chemical additives are not covered by this part of ISO 8858; nor does it cover procedures for the investigation of flotation kinetics.
The test is not intended to provide plant design data.

ISO 8858-3:2004 describes a laboratory method for release evaluation of the froth flotation characteristics of hard coal, of particle size less than 0.5 mm. It is applicable to coal in powder form or in the form of a slurry.

ISO 15117-1:2003 sets out methods for the measurement of the flow properties of coal, primarily for the design of bins and chutes. It also provides some guidance on the presentation of these data for analysis and design.
ISO 15117-1:2003 consists of a bulk density test and a yield locus test giving information on material flow properties. It also describes a further test, called the wall yield locus, which measures the friction between coal and bin wall material.
Although ISO 15117-1:2003 is nominally for coal, the principles and apparatus may be used for coke and other semi-cohesive particulate materials where a knowledge of flow properties is required.

ISO 10086-2:2004 specifies a method for the comparative evaluation of the performance of flocculants used as filter aids for rotary vacuum filtration applications on a given slurry.

ISO 2599:2003 specifies a titrimetric method for the determination of the phosphorus content of iron ores, using hexaammonium heptamolybdate (ammonium molybdate).
This method is applicable to a concentration range of 0,10 % (m/m) to 5,0 % (m/m)  of phosphorus in natural iron ores, and iron ore concentrates and agglomerates including sinter products.
This International Standard provides a quality control method for the determination of phosphorus by titration, however, the method cannot be used for referee purposes.

Applies to metal wire cloth with square openings and perforated plates or sheets with square or circular openings. Tables include principal sizes and supplementary sizes. Sizes of 1 mm and above shall be expressed in millimetres and sizes below 1 mm in micrometres.

Specifies general instructions concerning reagents, apparatus, sample, procedure, calibration graphs and test report.

The method is applicable to products having an arsenic content of 0,001 to 0.2 % (m/m). Should be read in conjunction with ISO 4297. Specifies principle, reactions, reagents, apparatus, sample, procedure and expression of results. A figure illustrates the apparatus for the distillation of arsenic.

Method A is applicable to products having a total iron content from 1 to 25 % (m/m), and method B is applicable to products having a total iron content from 0.2 to 2 % (m/m). ISO 7990 should be read in conjunction with ISO 4297. Specifies principle, reactions (method A only), reagents, apparatus, sampling and samples, procedure and expression of results.

The method is applicable to chromium ores with iron content of 0,5 to 32 % (m/m). Should be read in conjunction with ISO 6629. Specifies principle, reagents, apparatus, sampling and samples, procedure and expression of results. Includes a warning to the dangers involved in the use of perchloric acid and hydrofluoric acid.

The method is applicable to products having a calcium content greater than 0,1 % (m/m) and a magnesium content greater than 3,0 % (m/m). Should be read in conjunction with ISO 4297. Specifies principle, reagents, apparatus, procedure and expression of results.

This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition (ISO 312-1980), of which it constitutes a minor revision. Specifies principle, reagents, apparatus, sample, procedure and expression of results. A figure gives an example of apparatus.

The method is applicable to products having calcium and magnesium contents greater than 0,3 % (m/m). Should be read in conjunction with ISO 4297. Specifies principle, reagents, apparatus, sample, procedure and expression of results.

The method is applicable to products having an iron content between 0,2 % (m/m) and 10 % (m/m). ISO 9681 should be read in conjunction with ISO 4297. Specifies principle, reagents, apparatus, sampling and samples, procedure, and expression of results.

The method is applicable to products having a chromium content greater than 7 % (m/m). Should be read in conjunction with ISO 6629. Specifies principle, reagents, apparatus, procedure and expression of results.

Two methods are specified. Method A is applicable to products having a nickel content of 0.01 to 1.0 % (m/m), method B is applicable to products having a nickel content of 0.005 to 1.0 % (m/m). Both methods specify principle, reactions (method A only), reagents, apparatus, sample, procedure and expression of results.

The method is applicable to products having a silicon content greater than 0,5 % (m/m) and a fluorine content not more than 0,1 % (m/m). Should be read in conjunction with ISO 4297. Specifies principle, reagents, apparatus, procedure and expression of results.

The method is applicable to a concentration range of 0,08 to 3 % (m/m) of potassium and 0,02 to 1 % (m/m) of sodium. ISO 4571 should be read in conjunction with ISO 4297. Specifies principle, reagents, apparatus, procedure and expression of results.

Specifies general instructions concerning reagents, apparatus, sample, procedure, calibration graphs and test report.

The method is intended to be carried out simultaneously with the determination of other constituents of the same analytical sample so that the contents of the other constituents can be calculated on the basis of the absolutely dry ore. ISO 6129 should be read in conjunction with ISO 6629.

The molecular absorption spectrometric method (A) is applicable to products having silicon contents from 0,05 to 0,5 % (m/m), the gravimetric method (B) is applicable to products having silicon contents from 0,5 to 15 % (m/m). ISO 5997 should be read in conjunction with ISO 4297. Specifies among other things principle, reagents, apparatus, procedure, spectrometric measurement (method A only) and expression of results.

The method is applicable to products having calcium contents from 0,01 to 15 % (m/m) and magnesium contents from 0,01 to 4 % (m/m). ISO 7953 should be read in conjunction with ISO 4297. Specifies principle, reagents, apparatus, sampling and samples, procedure and expression of results.

The method is applicable to a concentration range of 1.5 to 20.0 % (m/m) of aluminium. ISO 8889 should be read in conjunction with ISO 6629. Specifies principle, reagents, apparatus, sample, procedure and expression of results.

This International Standard specifies a hydroxide precipitation and EDTA titrimetric method for the determination of
the zinc content of zinc ores and concentrates containing 10 % (m/m) to 60%(m/m) zinc.

The method is applicable to products having a phosphorus content of 0,002 to 0,1 % (m/m). ISO 6127 should be read in conjunction with ISO 6629. Specifies principle, reagents, apparatus, procedure and expression of results. Includes a warning to the dangers involved in the use of perchloric acid and hydrofluoric acid.

Method I is applicable to manganese ores having chromium contents less than 0.1 % (m/m), method II is applicable to manganese ores having chromium contents greater than 0.1 % (m/m). This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition (i.e. ISO 619-1975). Should be read in conjunction with ISO 4297.

This International Standard specifies a lead sulfate precipitation EDTA titrimetric method after acid decomposition for
determination of the lead content of lead sulfide concentrates.
The method is applicable to lead sulfide concentrates having lead content in the range 50 % (m/m) to 80%(m/m). The
method is not applicable to lead concentrates containing more than 1 % (m/m) of barium.

The method is applicable to products having phosphorus contents from 0,02 to 0,5 % (m/m). ISO 4293 should be read in conjunction with ISO 4297. Specifies principle, reagents, apparatus, sample, procedure and expression of results.

The method is intended to be applied at the places of dispatch and/or acceptance of the ore. Annex A specifies a method to be used in the case of adhesive or wet manganese ores. Annex B specifies methods of correction for sprinkled water and/or rain-water. Cancels and replaces the first edition (ISO 4299:1980) of which it constitutes a minor revision.

The photometric method (A) is applicable to products having aluminium contents from 0,1 to 1,5 % (m/m), the oxine gravimetric method (B) is applicable to products having aluminium contents over 1,5 % (m/m). Cancels and replaces the first edition (ISO 4295:1978), of which it constitutes a technical revision. Should be read in conjunction with ISO 4297.

The method is applicable to products having sodium contents from 0,02 to 1,0 % (m/m), and potassium contents from 0,08 to 3,0 % (m/m). ISO 7969 should be read in conjunction with ISO 4297. Specifies principle, reagents, apparatus, sampling, procedure and expression of results.

Describes three methods: methods I and II are gravimetric methods which are applicable to maganese ores having sulphur contents greater than 0.01 % (m/m), and method III is a titrimetric method. Should be read in conjunction with ISO 4297. Specifies principle, reagents, apparatus, sample, procedure and expression of results. A figure illustrates the apparatus for determination of sulphur content in accordance with method III.

The method is applicable to a concentration range of 0,1 to 4,0 % (m/m) of aluminium, 0,005 to 1,0 % (m/m) of copper, 0,005 to 1,0 % (m/m) of lead and 0,005 to 0,25 (m/m) of zinc. ISO 5889 should be read in conjunction with ISO 4297. Specifies principle, reagents, apparatus, sampling, procedure and expression of results.

The method ist applicable to a concentration range of 0,005 to 1,0 % (m/m) of fluorine in natural iron ores, and iron ore concentrates and agglomerates including sinter products. Specifies principle, reagents, apparatus, sampling and samples, procedure, expression of results, and test report. ISO 4693 includes three annexes.

The heterogeneity of distribution is characterized by the distribution variance and is determined by experimentally measuring the sampling variance. Because both the composition variance and distribution variance contribute to the measured sampling variance, it is necessary to separate these two components. Two methods of data analysis are permitted: Visman's theory of sampling which uses classical statistics and the variogram method which gives a better estimate because of taking into account serial correlation between adjacent increments.

This International Standard specifies experimental methods for the evaluation of quality variation of iron ores for each type of iron ore being traded and for each handling plant.
Two distinct approaches are specified. The first is to analyse interleaved samples composed of a number of paired increments taken and combined alternately following stratified sampling or systematic sampling as specified in ISO 3082. The second is to collect and analyse individual increments and then to analyse the data using variographic methods.
Using interleaved samples involves less work, but use of variograms provides a better estimate of quality variation and hence a better estimate of the sampling variance. The variogram method is usually used to fine tune a sampling operation.  
NOTE The experimental methods may be applied approximately to time basis sampling when the flowrate is almost uniform.
