ISO/TC 20/SC 10/WG 6 - Couplings for rigid pipe

This document defines terms which are used for all types of fittings and couplings. NOTE - In addition to text written in the official ISO languages (English, French), this document gives text in German and Chinese. This document specifies the required characteristics, inspection and test methods, quality assurance and procurement requirements for metric series 8°30’ dynamic beam seal pipe couplings, for temperature ranges type II and III according to ISO 6771 and nominal pressure up to 28 000 kPa.

This document defines the geometry of the interface of removable 24° cone couplings for fluid systems in aircraft. The connection with the pipe of each one of the connecting elements can be of different design. This document specifies the dimensions which allow the interchangeability of the male and female elements and of the nut used for the connection. The dimensions define the maximum volume of the male fitting.

This document establishes a system for sealing the port connection of couplings used in the aerospace industry. It specifies dimensions to achieve interchangeability of the port connection, the fitting end and a seal. The seal can be a standard O‑ring or a special ring.

ISO 22431:2018 specifies the dimensions of the dynamic beam seal end for welded ferrules for pipe couplings 8°30′, nominal pressure up to 28 000 kPa, for aerospace applications.

ISO 22433:2018 specifies the dimensions of the dynamic beam seal end for elbows, tees and crosses for pipe couplings 8°30′, nominal pressure up to 28 000 kPa, for aerospace applications.

ISO 22436:2018 specifies the characteristics of the thread end for 8°30′ pipe couplings, nominal pressure up to 28 000 kPa, for aerospace applications.

ISO 9538:2017 specifies a flexure test procedure for reconnectable and permanent hydraulic tube joints. This procedure is intended for conducting flexure tests on fittings with high-strength hydraulic tubes made of corrosion-resisting steel, titanium and aluminium for use on commercial and military aircraft.

ISO 7257:2016 specifies a flexure test procedure to determine and classify the fatigue strengths of reconnectable or permanent hydraulic tube joints. The procedure is intended for conducting flexure tests of fittings and joints with high-strength hydraulic tubes of various alloys such as corrosion resistant steel, Nimonic?[1], titanium and aluminium alloy hydraulic tube for use on commercial and military aircraft. A mean stress is applied by holding system pressure in the specimens and then flexing in a rotary bending test machine. ISO 7169:2014 specifies performance and quality requirements for the qualification and manufacture of standard 24° cone fittings and manufacture of 24° cone fittings to ensure reliable performance or equivalent inch-dimensioned fitting ends to ensure reliable performance in aircraft hydraulic systems. This International Standard specifies baseline criteria for the design and manufacture of system fittings that are qualification-tested on engines. This International Standard covers fittings of the temperature types and pressure classes specified in ISO 6771.

This International Standard specifies the requirements and the procedures for impulse testing of hose, tubing, and fitting assemblies for use in aerospace hydraulic systems. Requirements may apply, when appropriate, to components used in other aerospace fluid systems.

ISO 2563:2009 gives the profile dimensions of V-band couplings, and the associated inch-based aircraft ducting and piping for the following external flange profiles: lightweight solid profile; medium-weight solid profile; heavyweight solid profile; narrow sheet metal profile; wide sheet metal profile; wide solid profile; wide sheet metal to solid profile.

Cancels and replaces the first edition (1981). Specifies the requirements for connections installed in aircraft hydraulic system pressure and suction lines, intended for checking the systems by means of ground appliances.

Cancels and replaces the first edition (1982). Provides an environmental test method for thermal shock testing of fluid system piping and fittings, excluding hose and hose assemblies.

Defines the configuration and specifies the dimensions of various types of plastic caps and plugs used for the protection, during transit and storage, of openings in aerospace fluid system components.

Specifies the basic dimensions of a pressure re-oiling connection for use with all oils for aircraft engines, and the clearance envelope to be provided.

The test methods specified apply to fitting assemblies used in aircraft fluid systems in the pressure and temperature ranges covered by pressure classes B, D and E, and temperature types I, II and III of ISO 6771. Applies each time that it is referred to in a procurement specification or other definition document which contain the pass/fail criteria for these tests.

Specifies the mating and clearance dimensions. The mating dimensions and characteristics of the ground half shall conform to those in figure 1 and table 1. The aircraft half shall mate with the ground half. The clearance envelope in the aircraft to accommodate the ground half for the purposes of coupling and uncoupling the hose unit shall be in accordance with figure 2 and table 2.

Lays down the mating dimensions and access clearance for a replenishment coupling. Describes the requirements for the coupling mating dimensions, the thread and access clearance, which shall be in accordance with those given in figures and tables.

Specifies the basic dimensional and access clearance requirements for pressure connections on pressurized aircraft for coupling with the hose unit or adaptor of ground pressurizing equipment. Three sizes of connection are specified 22,22 mm, 46,04 mm and 72,39 mm for the recommended cabin volumes: not exceeding 1O m^3, 1O to 45 m^3 and 45 to 170 m^3.

Includes the basic dimensions for use with all oils for aircraft engines, and the clearance envelope to be provided. The dimensions and tolerances of the connection and space envelope are given in the figure and the table.

Gives the dimensions of 19 mm and 38 mm bore pressure connections. A space envolope is also specified for each size of connection. Dimensions and tolerances for connections are given in figures 1 and 3, and those for space envelopes in figures 2 and 4. The values are listed in tables.

ISO 22437:2018 specifies the characteristics of nuts for welded ferrules, for pipe couplings 8°30′, in titanium alloy, for aerospace applications. Nominal pressure: up to 28 000 kPa Temperature range: −55 °C to 135 °C

ISO 22438:2018 specifies the characteristics of thrust wires for attaching thrust wire nuts onto tees and elbows for pipe couplings 8°30′, for aerospace applications.

ISO 7169:2007 specifies performance and quality requirements for the qualification and manufacture of standard 24° cone fittings and manufacture of 24° cone fittings to ensure reliable performance or equivalent inch-dimensioned fitting ends to ensure reliable performance in aircraft hydraulic systems. ISO 7169:2007 specifies baseline criteria for the design and manufacture of system fittings that are qualification-tested on engines. ISO 7169:2007 covers fittings of the temperature types and pressure classes specified in ISO 6771:1987.

Establishes a system for sealing the port connection of couplings. Specifies dimensions to achieve interchangeability of the port connection, the fitting end and a seal. The seal may be a standard O-ring or a special ring.

The procedure is intended for conducting flexure tests of these parts with high strength tubes of various alloys such as corrosion resistant steel, Nimonic, titanium and aluminium alloy tube for use on commercial and military aircraft.

Gives joint lock dimensions for connecting these masks to sources in aircraft and helicopters. Joint dimensions standardization provides interchangeability with masks of various types. The basic dimensions and tolerances are shown in figures 1 and 2. Dimensions without tolerances can correspond to national standards. The lock halves shall be installed as shown in figures 1 and 2.

The profile dimensions of a mating pair of flanges shall comply with the figure given.

Includes the coupling dimensions and access clearance. The basic dimensions of the valve and the access clearance to be provided shall conform to the requirements of figure 1. The valves shall be provided at the coupling end with a srew thread conforming to the requirements of figure 2. The valves are given in tables.
