Cette norme s'applique à tous les articles de literie à l'état neuf, comme les couettes, de tous types et toutes dimensions, qui sont garnis uniquement de plumes et/ou de duvet. Cette norme ne s'applique pas: - aux sacs de couchage; - aux vêtements; - aux coussins, aux meubles. Elle fixe des définitions (voir également EN 1885) des tolérances pour les dimensions, les garnissages, les exigences de performances, d'échantillonnage, des références à des méthodes d'essais, des marquages de l'étiquetage. EN 13186:2004 - Feather and down: Specification for feather and down filled bedding articles is a CEN European Standard that defines essential requirements for new bedding articles (for example quilts and pillows) that are filled solely with feathers and/or down. The standard sets out definitions, tolerance limits, performance criteria, sampling and conditioning, test methods, and requirements for marking and labelling. It explicitly excludes sleeping bags, clothing, furniture and cushions.

- Colour fastness & dimensional stability: If declared washable/dry-cleanable, casing must meet minimum colour-fastness ratings (EN ISO 105 series) and dimensional change ≤5% after first cleaning (EN ISO 6330 for washing, EN ISO 3175-2 for dry cleaning). If shrinkage >5% the label must state: “Shrinkage over 5 %”.
- Care labelling and marking: Labels must comply with EN 23758 care symbols and include relevant information about filling, care and shrinkage.
- Sampling & conditioning: Sampling per EN 1883; conditioning per EN 20139 and EN 20187.
- Annex B: Informative guidance on reducing house dust mite presence in bedrooms and barrier function of down‑proof fabrics.

This document (EN 13186:2004) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 222 “Feather and down as
filling material for any article, as well as finished articles filled with feather and down”, the secretariat of which is
held by UNI.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or
by endorsement, at the latest by May 2005, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by
May 2005.
According to the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of the following
