SIST ETS 300 279:1999/A1:1999 is the Slovenian adoption of ETS 300 279 Amendment 1 from ETSI. It covers ElectroMagnetic Compatibility (EMC) for Private land Mobile Radio (PMR) equipment and ancillary equipment used for speech and non-speech applications. In practice, it tells manufacturers, test laboratories and approval bodies which EMC test methods, limits and approval references apply to this equipment.
What does SIST ETS 300 279:1999/A1:1999 specify?
SIST ETS 300 279:1999/A1:1999 specifies the EMC requirements for private mobile radio equipment and its ancillary equipment. The amendment is aimed at turning ETS 300 279 into a harmonized EMC standard linked to Council Directive 89/336/EEC, so it matters for conformity assessment and type approval.
The document is organized around a replaced foreword and three normative annexes. Annex A ties the ETS 300 279 EMC clauses to the essential requirements of the EMC Directive, Annex B lists the parts of I-ETS 300 219 that are relevant to compliance, and Annex C reproduces the ERC Decision that supports national approval regulations.
| Annex | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Annex A | ETS 300 279 EMC clauses and subclauses relevant to the EMC Directive |
| Annex B | I-ETS 300 219 clauses relevant to EMC compliance for certain land mobile equipment |
| Annex C | ERC Decision on approval regulations for land mobile radio equipment |
What are the key requirements of SIST ETS 300 279:1999/A1:1999?
The main requirement in SIST ETS 300 279:1999/A1:1999 is that PMR equipment and ancillary equipment be checked against the EMC test methods and limit values identified in the normative annexes. For a user, that means the document is mainly a conformity and test standard: it tells you what to measure, how to measure it, and which parts are relevant for approval.
Emission and immunity tests
Annex A links clause 8 to emission tests and clause 9 to immunity tests. The annex covers enclosure-related tests for ancillary equipment, DC and AC mains ports, RF field immunity, electrostatic discharge, fast transients, RF common-mode immunity, vehicular transients and surges, voltage dips and interruptions, and common/differential mode surges. In practice, a manufacturer or test house uses these clauses to build the EMC test plan for the equipment and its ports.
Spurious emissions and radiations
Annex B uses I-ETS 300 219 methods for spurious emissions and spurious radiations. It separates conducted and radiated components, and it distinguishes between transmit operating and transmit standby conditions. For the reader, this means unwanted emissions must be checked in the relevant operating state and on the appropriate port or measurement setup.
Receiver performance under interference
Annex B also covers spurious response rejection and blocking or desensitization. The annex points to I-ETS 300 219 measurement methods and sets minimum rejection and blocking performance for receivers. In practice, this tells approval engineers and radio designers how well the receiver must resist false responses and overload from nearby signals.
Approval-regulation material
Annex C carries the ERC Decision that supports adoption of approval regulations for land mobile radio equipment. It also shows which technical parameters are considered suitable for harmonized approval and which remain subject to national licensing or frequency-planning arrangements. For users, this is the part that connects the EMC work to national type-approval practice.
What terms does SIST ETS 300 279:1999/A1:1999 define?
- ElectroMagnetic Compatibility (EMC) - the ability of equipment to operate without causing or suffering unacceptable electromagnetic disturbance.
- Private land Mobile Radio (PMR) - mobile radio equipment used for private land mobile radio services.
- European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) - the standards body that prepared the amendment.
- European Radiocommunications Committee (ERC) - the body whose decision is reproduced in Annex C.
- European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT) - the European administrations group referred to in Annex C.
- Interim European Telecommunications Standard (I-ETS) - an interim ETS that Annex B uses as the technical basis for several methods and limits.
Who uses SIST ETS 300 279:1999/A1:1999?
SIST ETS 300 279:1999/A1:1999 is used by PMR equipment manufacturers, EMC test laboratories, certification and approval bodies, and procurement or quality teams that need to check whether radio equipment meets the applicable EMC-related requirements. It is also relevant to regulators and operators involved in national type approval and harmonized approval regimes for land mobile radio equipment.
What changed in SIST ETS 300 279:1999/A1:1999 from the previous edition?
This amendment modifies ETS 300 279 (1996). It replaces the foreword, adds normative Annex A and Annex B, and inserts Annex C with the ERC Decision on approval regulations.
It also reframes the document as part of a harmonized EMC standard set and connects it to Council Directive 89/336/EEC. For readers, the practical effect is that the amendment turns the original standard into a version that is aligned with harmonized EMC approval use.
Which standards are used with SIST ETS 300 279:1999/A1:1999?
- I-ETS 300 219 - provides the measurement methods and technical basis used in Annex B for spurious emissions, spurious radiations, receiver rejection and blocking.
- ETS 300 086 - is named as the complementary standard for combined speech/non-speech equipment.
- ETS 300 113, ETS 300 296, ETS 300 341 and ETS 300 390 - are listed with ETS 300 086 as standards that form the harmonized EMC standard set referenced in the foreword.
- Council Directive 89/336/EEC - is the EMC Directive that the harmonized status points to.
- CEPT Recommendation T/R 24-01 Annex V - is cited as background to I-ETS 300 219 in Annex C.
What does the SIST ETS 300 279:1999/A1:1999 document contain?
The document contains a revised foreword, the amendment instructions, and three normative annexes. Annex A gives a table that maps EMC-related clauses and subclauses to the essential requirements of the EMC Directive. Annex B gives the clauses from I-ETS 300 219 that matter for compliance, together with the associated spurious-emission, spurious-radiation, rejection and blocking topics.
Annex C reproduces the ERC Decision and its explanatory material on approval regulations for land mobile radio equipment. That annex also shows the approval parameters and the national variations for channel spacing and temperature range.
