Dieser Teil von ISO 4210 legt sicherheitstechnische und leistungsbezogene Anforderungen an konstruktive Ausführung, Zusammenbau und Prüfung von Fahrrädern und Baugruppen fest, die über eine in Tabelle 1 festgelegte Sattelhöhe verfügen, und stellt Richtlinien für das Benutzerhandbuch des Herstellers hinsichtlich der Benutzung und Pflege dieser Fahrräder bereit.
Dieser teil von ISO 4210 gilt für Jugendfahrräder mit einer maximalen Sattelhöhe von 635 mm oder höher, aber weniger als 750 mm, City- und Trekkingfahrräder, Geländefahrräder und Rennräder, die über eine maximale Sattelhöhe von 635 mm oder höher verfügen, sowie Falträder (siehe Tabelle 1 und Bild 1).
Dieser Teil der ISO 4210 gilt nicht für spezialisierte Fahrradtypen wie Lastenfahrräder, Liegefahrräder, Tandems, BMX-Fahrräder und Fahrräder, die für harte Anwendungen wie genehmigte Wettbewerbsveranstaltungen, Trickfahrten oder Kunstsprungfiguren ausgelegt und ausgerüstet sind.
ANMERKUNG Bei Fahrrädern mit einer maximalen Sattelhöhe von 435 mm oder weniger (siehe ISO 8124-1) und bei einer maximalen Sattelhöhe von mehr als 435 mm und weniger als 635 mm (siehe ISO 8098).

Standard EN ISO 4210-2 določa varnostne in tehnične zahteve za zasnovo, sestavo in preskušanje koles in njihovih podsestavov z višino sedeža, podano v preglednici 1, ter določa smernice za proizvajalčeva navodila za uporabo in nego takšnih koles. Ta del standarda ISO 4210 velja za kolesa za mlade z maksimalno višino sedeža najmanj 635 mm in največ 750 mm, mestna in treking kolesa, gorska kolesa in tekmovalna kolesa z maksimalno višino sedeža najmanj 635 mm, vključno z zložljivimi kolesi (glejte preglednico 1 in sliko 1).
