EN 13542:2001 - Manufactured articles filled with feather and down: Method for determining the compressibility index of clothing - is a CEN European test method that defines how to measure the compressibility index (CI) of garments filled solely with feathers and/or down. The standard quantifies how much a filled garment compresses under a defined load by comparing a calculated conventional volume (from filling mass and filling power) with the residual volume under pressure.

    • Two compression measurements (separated by a 1 h rest) to compute an average compressed height.

  • Reporting: Test report must reference this standard, test date/place, specimen ID, CI value, deviations from procedure and unusual observations.
