BRIEF HISTORY
The IS0 Recommendation R 99, Diameters of Pulleys for Flat Transmission Belts,
was drawn up by Technical Commmittee ISO/TC 41, Pulleys and Belts (including Vee-
Belts), the Secretariat of which is held by the Association Française de Normalisation
(AFNOR).
It was at its third meeting, held in Stockholm, in June 1955, that the Technical Com-
mittee unanimously adopted by the delegates present the resolution on which this IS0
Recommendation is based.
At the end of the Stockholm meeting, a draft proposal was distributed to the members O
of the Technical Committee. The comments formulated during this enquiry were examined
by the appropriate Working Group which met in Munich, in October 1956, and proposed
a few modifications. A second draft proposal was then distributed to the members of
the Technical Committee and was adopted as a Draft IS0 Recommendation.
On 16 May 1957, the Draft IS0 Recommendation was distributed to all the IS0
Member Bodies and was approved, without reserve, by the following 24 (out of a total
of 38) Member Bodies:
*Austria Germany Romania
Belgium *Greece Spain
*Bulgaria *India Sweden
*Canada *Ireland Switzerland
Czechoslovakia Italy Union of South Africa
Japan United Kingdom
Denmark
Finland Pakistan U.S.A.
France *Portugal U.S.S.R.
O
No Member Body opposed the approval of the Draft.
The Draft IS0 Recommendation was then submitted by correspondence to the IS0
Council, which decided, in February 1959, to accept it as an IS0 RECOMMENDATION.
* These Member Bodies stated that they had no objection to the Draft being approved.

HISTORIQUE
