Foreword
ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies
(ISO member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO
technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been
established has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental and
non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. ISO collaborates closely with the
International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all matters of electrotechnical standardization.
International Standards are drafted in accordance with the rules given in the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2.
The main task of technical committees is to prepare International Standards. Draft International Standards
adopted by the technical committees are circulated to the member bodies for voting. Publication as an
International Standard requires approval by at least 75 % of the member bodies casting a vote.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent
rights. ISO shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
ISO 12625-1 was prepared by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) Technical Committee
CEN/TC 172, Pulp, paper and board, in collaboration with Technical Committee ISO/TC 6, Paper, board and
pulps, Subcommittee SC 2, Test methods and quality specifications for paper and board, in accordance with
the Agreement on technical cooperation between ISO and CEN (Vienna Agreement).
This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition (ISO 12625-1:2005), which has been technically
revised.
With regard to ISO 12625-1:2005, the following changes have been made:
a) reduction of the number of terms to those which directly concern tissue;
b) the Alphabetical Index has been restructured, because of the merging of “term groups”;
c) editorial updating.
ISO 12625 consists of the following parts, under the general title Tissue paper and tissue products:

L'ISO (Organisation internationale de normalisation) est une fédération mondiale d'organismes nationaux de

b) restructuration de l’index alphabétique en raison de la fusion de «groupes de termes»;
c) mise à jour rédactionnelle.

(ISO-Mitgliedskörperschaften). Die Erarbeitung Internationaler Normen obliegt den Technischen Komitees der
ISO. Jede Mitgliedskörperschaft, die sich für ein Thema interessiert, für das ein Technisches Komitee
eingesetzt wurde, ist berechtigt, in diesem Komitee mitzuarbeiten. Internationale (staatliche und

ISO 12625-1 wurde vom Technischen Komitee CEN/TC 172, Faserstoff, Papier und Pappe, des
Europäischen Komitees für Normung (CEN) erarbeitet, in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Technischen Komittee
ISO/TC 6, Papier, Pappe und Faserstoff, Subkomitee SC 2, Prüfverfahren und Gütebestimmungen für Papier
und Pappe, gemäß der Vereinbarung über die technische Zusammenarbeit zwischen der ISO und dem CEN
(Wiener Vereinbarung).
Diese zweite Ausgabe wird die erste Ausgabe (ISO 12625-1:2005) aufgrund technischer Änderungen
ersetzen.
Gegenüber EN ISO 12625-1:2005 wurden folgende Änderungen vorgenommen:
a) Reduzierung der Anzahl der Begriffe auf diejenigen, die in direktem, engen Zusammenhang mit Tissue
stehen;
b) das alphabetische Verzeichnis wurde durch Zusammenlegung von „Begriffsgruppen” neu strukturiert;
c) redaktionelle Überarbeitung.
Unter dem Haupttitel Tissue-Papier und Tissue-Produkte besteht ISO 12625 aus den folgenden Teilen:

Introduction
This International Standard defines terms and specifies test methods for the determination of the physical
properties of wet-laid tissue paper manufactured using dry creping or wet creping techniques, and includes
products made using a combination of these tissue-making processes.
Tissue products form an important and growing market for single-use disposable hygiene and industrial
products. The current range of these familiar products includes toilet tissue, facial tissue, kitchen/household
towels, hand towels, handkerchiefs, table napkins, mats, industrial wipes and lotion-treated products.
Tissue-paper manufacturing technology has evolved and diverged from “ordinary” paper technology so that a
new glossary and new test methods have become necessary.
The purpose of this International Standard is to allow a common understanding of the various tissue-making
terms between tissue manufacturers, tissue converters and tissue customers and to facilitate the
harmonization of testing methods. Each listed term is briefly defined and, where this was thought to be useful,
an example is given. While elaborating this part of ISO 12625, English was chosen as the original language. It
was then stated that some expressions cannot been translated into another language. For those cases, the
English expression is valid.

La présente Norme internationale définit des termes et spécifie des méthodes d'essai pour la détermination
des propriétés physiques du papier tissue crêpé par voie humide fabriqué au moyen de techniques de
crêpage à sec ou de crêpage humide, et comprend les produits élaborés au moyen d'une combinaison de ces
procédés de fabrication de papier tissue.
Les produits tissues représentent un marché important et en croissance constante pour les produits
industriels et les produits d'hygiène à usage unique. La gamme actuelle de ces produits d'hygiène familiers
comprend le papier hygiénique, les serviettes à démaquiller, les essuie-tout et les articles d'essuyage
ménagers, les essuie-mains, les mouchoirs, les serviettes de table, les tapis, les articles d'essuyage
industriels et toute une série de produits imprégnés de lotion.
L'évolution des techniques de fabrication du papier tissue et leur différenciation par rapport aux techniques
papetières classiques ont rendu nécessaire l'élaboration d'un nouveau glossaire et de nouvelles méthodes
d'essai.
L'objet de la présente Norme internationale est de permettre une compréhension commune des différents
termes relatifs aux produits tissues par les fabricants, les transformateurs et les clients, et de faciliter
l'harmonisation des méthodes d'essai. Chaque terme répertorié dans la liste fait l'objet d'une définition
succincte et, lorsque cela a été jugé utile, un exemple est donné. Lors de l'élaboration de la présente partie de
l'ISO 12625, la langue anglaise a été choisie comme langue de référence. Il a ensuite été établi que certaines
expressions ne peuvent pas être traduites dans une autre langue. Dans ces cas, le terme anglais s'applique.

physikalischen Eigenschaften von nass gelegten Tissue-Papieren fest, die durch die Anwendung von
Trockenkrepp- und/oder Nasskrepp-Techniken hergestellt wurden. Diese Reihe beinhaltet Produkte, die aus
einer Kombination von diesen Tissue-Herstellungsprozessen produziert wurden.
Tissue-Produkte sind ein wichtiger und wachsender Markt für den Einmalgebrauch von
Wegwerfhygiene-Produkten. Der derzeitige Bereich dieser Hygieneprodukte umfasst Toilettenpapier,
Gesichtstücher, Küchen-/Haushaltstücher, Handtücher, Taschentücher, Servietten, Faservliese, Waschtücher
für den industriellen Bereich und eine Reihe von mit „Lotion” beaufschlagten Produkten.
Die Herstellungstechnologie der Tissue-Papiere hat sich weiter entwickelt und weicht von der eigentlichen

hilfreich, ein Beispiel für diesen Begriff. Bei der Erarbeitung dieses Teils der ISO 12625 wurde die englische
Sprache als Basis gewählt. Es wurde dann festgestellt, dass nicht alle Begriffe und Definitionen in eine andere
Sprache übersetzt werden konnten. Für diese Fälle gilt stets der Ausdruck in englischer Sprache.
