Overview

ISO 20112-1:2018 defines the analogue camera interface between tractor and implement for agricultural and forestry machinery. It specifies the physical link, connector types and electrical requirements for connecting up to two analogue video streams from implement‑mounted cameras to operator terminals or monitors installed inside the tractor cabin. The interface also supplies electrical power to cameras and is intended for in‑cab installation (adapter cables allowed for tractors without cabins).

Key topics and requirements

  • Supported video streams: Up to two analogue composite video channels (CAM1 mandatory, CAM2 optional). Formats: CCIR (PAL) 50 Hz or EIA (NTSC) 60 Hz (per ITU/CCIR conventions).
  • Power and electrical limits:
    • Maximum combined power consumption: 20 W
    • Power supply voltage: 9 V to 16 V DC
    • Camera power is provided by the tractor terminal (power switched positive and ground).
  • Connector and mechanical details:
    • In‑cabin connector (male plug) and cable receptacle (female) dimensions are specified in the standard.
    • Example part references: AMP/Tyco Circular Plastic Connector (CPC) Series 1 (plug: Part 211401‑4 or 211401‑1; receptacle: Part 211399‑1).
    • All contacts (pins and sockets) shall be gold plated; sealing caps required to protect unmated connectors.
    • Connector must be located inside the cabin and easily accessible; camera cable should enter via a duct near the rear window.
  • Pin assignment (7 pins):
    1. Camera power supply switched (positive)
    2. Reserved for future ISO assignment
    3. Analogue video ground CAM1 (mandatory)
    4. Analogue video signal CAM1 (mandatory)
    5. Analogue video ground CAM2 (optional)
    6. Analogue video signal CAM2 (optional)
    7. Camera power ground
  • Multi‑camera support: If an implement has more than two cameras, a Camera Control Unit (CCU) must be fitted on the implement to compose multiple images into a single video stream. CCU control interfaces (selection, mirroring, overlays, split/quad modes) are out of scope and can use discrete I/O, CAN bus, ISOBUS, Ethernet or similar.
  • Environmental and testing: Implementation shall follow ISO 15003 environmental resistance severity levels for a weather‑protected location.

Applications and users

  • Manufacturers of tractors, implements and operator terminals integrating analogue camera systems.
  • Camera and harness suppliers, system integrators, and OEM electronics teams designing in‑cab video and power interfaces.
  • Aftermarket retrofitters and service technicians installing implement‑mounted cameras.
  • Compliance and QA engineers validating connector, electrical and environmental conformance.

Related standards

  • ISO 15003 - electrical/electronic equipment environmental testing
  • ISO 11783 (ISOBUS) - serial control and communications (relevant for CCU control interfaces)
  • ITU‑R BT.470‑7 (conventional analogue television systems - PAL/NTSC)

Keywords: ISO 20112-1, analogue camera interface, tractor camera interface, agricultural cameras, implement cameras, CCU, composite video, PAL, NTSC, ISOBUS, 9–16 V DC, 20 W.
