This standard is applicable to heating boilers with burners using fans up to a nominal heat output of 1000 kW. They are operated, either with negative pressure (natural draught boiler) or with positive pressure (pressurised boiler) in the combustion chamber, in accordance with the boiler manufacturers' instructions. This standard specifies the necessary terminology, the requirements on the materials and testing of them, and marking requirements for heating boilers. Particular requirements for boilers which can be used with open vented systems are contained in prEN 303-4.

Diese Norm gilt für Heizkessel mit Gebläsebrennern bis zu einer Nennwärme- leistung von 1000 kW, die nach den Festlegungen des Kesselherstellers entweder mit Unterdruck (Naturzugkessel) oder mit Überdruck (Überdruckkessel) im Brennraum betrieben werden. Diese Norm legt die notwendigen Begriffe, die Bauanforderungen, die Prüfungen sowie die Kennzeichnung für Heizkessel fest. Für Heizkessel, die in offenen Anlagen betrieben werden, gilt prEN 303-4. Die Festlegungen dieser Norm gelten für Heizkessel, die auf einem anerkannten Kesselprüfstand zu prüfen sind.

La présente norme est applicable aux chaudières pour brûleurs à air soufflé jusqu'à une puissance nominale de 1000 kW. Ces chaudières sont définies par le constructeur comme des chaudières en dépression (à tirage naturel) ou en pression dans la chambre de combustion (chaudières pressurisées). La présente norme prescrit les définitions, les exigences de construction et les essais correspondants, ainsi que les exigences de marquage pour les chaudières. Pour les chaudières qui peuvent être utilisées avec un vase d'expansion ouvert, les exigences particulières de construction sont précisées dans le prEN 303-4.
