Diese Internationale Norm legt Regeln und graphische Symbole für die Darstellung von Keilwellen und Kerbverzahnungen in technischen Zeichnungen fest. Die folgenden zwei Darstellungsmethoden sind festgelegt: a) die vollständige Darstellung, b) die vereinfachte Darstellung. Die Regeln und Symbole dieser Internationalen Norm gelten für Einzelteil-Zeichnungen (Wellen und Naben) sowie für Zusammenbau-Zeichnungen von Verbindungen.

La présente Norme internationale prescrit les règles et spécifie les symboles graphiques de représentation des cannelures et des dentelures sur les dessins techniques. Deux méthodes de représentation sont spécifiées :
a) la représentation complète;
b) la représentation simplifiée.
Les règles prescrites et les symboles graphiques spécifiés dans la présente Norme internationale s'appliquent aux dessins de détail des pièces (arbres et moyeux) aussi bien qu'aux dessins d'ensemble des assemblages cannelés.
NOTE -- Par souci d'uniformité, toutes les figures représentées dans la présente Norme internationale sont dessinées selon la méthode de projection orthogonale du premier dièdre. Il est bien entendu que la méthode de projection orthogonale du troisième dièdre aurait pu aussi bien être utilisée sans préjudice pour les principes établis.
