This document specifies a wavelength-dispersive X-ray fluorescence (WDXRF) test method for the determination of the sulfur content of liquid, homogeneous automotive fuels from 5 mg/kg to 500 mg/kg, which have a maximum oxygen content of 3,7 % (m/m). This product range covers:
— diesel fuels containing up to about 30 % (V/V) fatty acid methyl esters (FAME),
— motor gasolines containing up to about 10 % (V/V) ethanol,
— synthetic fuels such as hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) and gas to liquid (GTL) having sulfur contents in the range of 5 mg/kg to 45 mg/kg.
Products with higher oxygen content show significant matrix effects, e.g. pure FAME used as biodiesel, nevertheless, pure FAME can be analysed when the corresponding procedures are followed (see 5.3 and 8.1).
Other products can be analysed with this test method, though precision data for products other than those mentioned have not been established for this document.
NOTE 1 Sulfur contents higher than 500 mg/kg can be determined after sample dilution, however, the precision was not established for diluted samples.
NOTE 2 For the purposes of this document, "% (m/m)" and "% (V/V)" are used to represent the mass fraction, w, and the volume fraction, φ, of a material respectively.

Dieses Dokument legt ein Prüfverfahren der wellenlängendispersiven Röntgenfluoreszenz Analyse (wdRFA) zur Bestimmung des Schwefelgehaltes von flüssigen, homogenen Kraftstoffen von 5 mg/kg bis 500 mg/kg mit einem Sauerstoffgehalt von höchstens 3,7 % (m/m) fest. Dieser Produktbereich umfasst
— Dieselkraftstoffe mit bis zu etwa 30 % (V/V) Fettsäuremethylester (FAME);
— Ottokraftstoffe mit bis zu 10 % (V/V) Ethanol;
— synthetische Kraftstoffe, wie z. B. mit Wasserstoff behandelten Pflanzenkraftstoff (HVO, en: hydrotreated vegetable oil) und Gasverflüssigungskraftstoff (GTL, en: gas to liquid) mit Schwefel-gehalten im Bereich von 5 mg/kg bis 45 mg/kg.
Erzeugnisse mit höherem Sauerstoffgehalt zeigen erhebliche Matrixeffekte, z. B. reiner Biodiesel (Fettsäuremethylester (FAME)). Reiner Biodiesel kann jedoch dennoch analysiert werden, wenn die entsprechenden Verfahren befolgt werden (siehe 5.3 und 8.1).
Andere Erzeugnisse können mit diesem Prüfverfahren analysiert werden, es wurden für dieses Dokument jedoch keine Präzisionsdaten für andere als die hier genannten Erzeugnisse festgelegt.
ANMERKUNG 1 Schwefelgehalte von mehr als 500 mg/kg können nach Verdünnung der Probe bestimmt werden, die Präzision wurde jedoch nicht für verdünnte Proben ermittelt.

Le présent document spécifie une méthode d'essai par fluorescence de rayons X dispersive en longueur d'onde (WDXRF) pour le dosage du soufre dans les carburants liquides homogènes pour automobiles entre 5 mg/kg et 500 mg/kg et dont la teneur en oxygène est au maximum de 3,7 % (m/m). Cette gamme de produits comprend:
— les carburants diesels (gazoles) contenant jusqu'à environ 30 % (V/V) d'esters méthyliques d'acide gras (EMAG),
— les essences automobiles contenant jusqu'à environ 10 % (V/V) d'éthanol,
— les carburants synthétiques, comme les huiles végétales hydrotraitées (HVO) et les carburants liquides produits à partir de gaz (GTL), dont les teneurs en soufre se trouvent dans le domaine 5 mg/kg à 45 mg/kg.
Les produits ayant une teneur en oxygène supérieure à cette valeur présentent des effets de matrice significatifs, par exemple les EMAG purs utilisés comme biocarburants diesel. Ces EMAG purs peuvent néanmoins être analysés si les modes opératoires correspondants sont suivis (voir 5.3 et 8.1).
D'autres produits peuvent être analysés avec cette méthode d'essai, bien qu'il n'a pas été établi de données de fidélité pour des produits autres que ceux mentionnés dans le présent document.
NOTE 1 Les teneurs en soufre supérieures à 500 mg/kg peuvent être déterminées après dilution. Néanmoins, les valeurs de fidélité n'ont pas été établies dans le cas d'échantillons dilués.

Ta dokument določa preskusno metodo z valovno disperzivno rentgensko fluorescenčno spektrometrijo (WDXRF) za določevanje žvepla v tekočih, homogenih gorivih za motorna vozila z vsebnostjo žvepla od 5 do 500 mg/kg in maksimalno vsebnostjo kisika 3,7 % (m/m).
