2000/14/EC - Noise emission in the environment by equipment for use outdoors
Noise emission in the environment by equipment for use outdoors
General Information
This document specifies noise test codes for determining the sound power level and the emission sound pressure level at the workstation of reciprocating internal combustion engine driven electrical power generating sets.
This document applies to constant and variable-speed reciprocating internal combustion (RIC) engine driven alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) generating sets for fixed and mobile applications with rigid or flexible mountings. It is applicable for land and marine use, excluding generating sets used on aircraft or to propel land vehicles and locomotives.
NOTE 1 For some specific applications (e.g. essential hospital supplies, high-rise buildings) supplementary requirements can be necessary. The provisions of this document can be regarded as a basis.
NOTE 2 This document is referenced with regard to noise in ISO 8528-13:2016, which contains requirements concerning the design of generating sets, verification of noise levels and information related to noise in the operating and maintenance instructions.

This document provides guidance on auditing management systems, including the principles of auditing, managing an audit programme and conducting management system audits, as well as guidance on the evaluation of competence of individuals involved in the audit process. These activities include the individual(s) managing the audit programme, auditors and audit teams.
It is applicable to all organizations that need to plan and conduct internal or external audits of management systems or manage an audit programme.
The application of this document to other types of audits is possible, provided that special consideration is given to the specific competence needed.

ISO 3744:2010 specifies methods for determining the sound power level or sound energy level of a noise source from sound pressure levels measured on a surface enveloping the noise source (machinery or equipment) in an environment that approximates to an acoustic free field near one or more reflecting planes. The sound power level (or, in the case of noise bursts or transient noise emission, the sound energy level) produced by the noise source, in frequency bands or with frequency A-weighting applied, is calculated using those measurements.
The methods specified in ISO 3744:2010 are suitable for all types of noise (steady, non-steady, fluctuating, isolated bursts of sound energy, etc.) defined in ISO 12001.
ISO 3744:2010 is applicable to all types and sizes of noise source (e.g. stationary or slowly moving plant, installation, machine, component or sub-assembly), provided the conditions for the measurements can be met.
The test environments that are applicable for measurements made in accordance with ISO 3744:2010 can be located indoors or outdoors, with one or more sound-reflecting planes present on or near which the noise source under test is mounted. The ideal environment is a completely open space with no bounding or reflecting surfaces other than the reflecting plane(s) (such as that provided by a qualified hemi-anechoic chamber), but procedures are given for applying corrections (within limits that are specified) in the case of environments that are less than ideal.
Information is given on the uncertainty of the sound power levels and sound energy levels determined in accordance with ISO 3744:2010, for measurements made in limited bands of frequency and with frequency A-weighting applied. The uncertainty conforms to ISO 12001:1996, accuracy grade 2 (engineering grade).

ISO 20361:2007 specifies all the information necessary to carry out efficiently and under standardized conditions the determination, declaration and verification of the airborne noise emission of liquid pumps or pump units. It specifies the noise measurement methods and the operating and mounting conditions that shall be used for the test.
The use of ISO 20361:2007 ensures the reproducibility of the determination of the airborne noise-emission characteristics within specified limits determined by the grade of accuracy of the basic airborne noise measurement method used. Noise measurement methods according to ISO 20361:2006 are engineering methods (grade 2) and survey methods (grade 3).
ISO 20361:2007 does not deal with the characterization of the structure-borne sound and liquid-borne noise generated by liquid pumps.
