This International Standard describes a method for the determination of the force required to separate the plies of
textile floor coverings. It is applicable to all types of textile floor coverings with a secondary or foam backing.
The results obtained by this method are useful as a control of production but cannot be considered to be a reliable
indication of in-use performance.

This document specifies a method to determine the sensitivity of a textile floor covering for appearance change after water has been spilled and dried on the surface.
This change can be:
a) a colour change;
b) a change in structure;
c) migration and concentration of chemicals coming from the product.
NOTE A concentration of chemicals on a part of the surface can cause accelerated uneven soiling of textile floor coverings.

This European Standard establishes a classification system for resilient, textile and laminate floor coverings. The classification is based on practical requirements for areas of use and intensity of use and is linked to the requirements specified in the European Standard for each type of floor covering.
This European Standard is also intended to give guidance to manufacturers, specifiers and consumers to enable them to choose the appropriate class of floor covering for any given area of use or specific room.
NOTE The wear and appearance of floor coverings are influenced by standards of installation and maintenance, the condition of the sub-floor and the kind of use (type of footwear, high concentrations of localized traffic etc.). These factors should be taken into account when using this classification system.
