IEC 61003-1:2016 is applicable to pneumatic and electric industrial-process instruments or control device using measured values that are continuous signals either a mechanical (position, force, etc.) or a standard electric signal. It is intended to specify uniform terminologies and testing methods for performance evaluation of industrial-process instruments or process control systems modules with analogue measured values and two- or multi-position outputs. This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition published in 2004. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: - use of the term "two-position output" instead of "two-state instrument" (see 3.2); - use of the term "differential gap" instead of "switching differential" (see 3.4); - use of "fast transient/burst immunity requirements" instead of "power supply transient overvoltages", and revision of the test method (see 6.2.10); - deletion of 6.2.12 "common mode interference" and 6.2.13 "normal mode interference (series mode) "tests of the previous edition; - use of the term "electromagnetic field" instead of "radiated electromagnetic interference", the test method remained the same (see 6.2.16); - use of the term "dielectric strength" instead of "isolation test", and revision of the reference (see 6.3.4); - deletion of Subclauses "8.2 Design features", "10.1 Routine maintenance and adjustment" and "10.2 Repair" of the previous edition.

L'IEC 61003-1:2016 est applicable aux dispositifs de commande ou instruments électriques et pneumatiques des processus industriels, utilisant des valeurs mesurées qui sont des signaux continus, c'est-à-dire soit un signal mécanique (position, force, etc.) soit un signal électrique normalisé. Elle a pour objet de spécifier des terminologies et des méthodes d'essais uniformes pour l'évaluation des performances des instruments des processus industriels ou des modules de systèmes de commande de processus avec valeurs mesurées analogiques et sorties à deux ou plusieurs positions. Cette troisième édition annule et remplace la deuxième édition parue en 2004. Cette édition constitue une révision technique. Cette édition inclut les modifications techniques majeures suivantes par rapport à l'édition précédente: - utilisation de l'expression "sortie à deux positions" au lieu de "instrument à deux états" (voir en 3.2); - utilisation du terme "recouvrement" au lieu de "différentiel de commutation" (voir en 3.4); - utilisation de l'expression "Exigences relatives à l'immunité aux transitoires rapides/en salves" au lieu de "Surtensions transitoires d'alimentation", et révision de la méthode d'essai (voir en 6.2.10); - suppression des essais du 6.2.12 "Influence en mode commun" et du 6.2.13 "Influence en mode normal (mode série)", issus de la précédente édition; - utilisation de l'expression "champ électromagnétique" au lieu de "interférence électromagnétique rayonnée", la méthode d'essai restant inchangée (voir en 6.2.16); - utilisation de l'expression "rigidité diélectrique" au lieu de "essai d'isolation", et révision de la référence (voir en 6.3.4); - suppression des paragraphes "8.2 Caractéristiques de conception", "10.1 Entretien et ajustement" et "10.2 Réparation" de la précédente édition.

Ta del standarda IEC 61003 se uporablja za pnevmatske in električne instrumente za industrijske procese ali nadzorne naprave, ki uporabljajo izmerjene vrednosti, ki so neprekinjeni signali, in sicer mehanski (položaj, sila itd.) ali standardni električni signali.
Ti instrumenti ali moduli za nadzorne sisteme za procese se lahko uporabljajo kot alarmni krmilniki ali stikala in za druge podobne namene.
Težave zaradi varnosti elektronskih izdelkov lahko vplivajo na le nekaj izdelkov, ki so zajeti v tem dokumentu. Zato ta dokument ne obravnava teh varnostnih vprašanj. Ta standard določa enotno terminologijo in preskusne metode za ocenjevanje zmogljivosti instrumentov za industrijske procese ali module za nadzorne sisteme za procese z analogno izmerjenimi vrednostmi in dvo- ali večpozicijskimi izhodi. Dejavniki, ki niso povezani z zmogljivostjo, so navedeni v točki 10.
