This standard describes a method for the evaluation of casting roughness by means of visualtactile comparators. The method is applicable to all casting processes for all cast materials. The method can be used for the assessment of castings or areas of castings in the as-cast condition (beyond removal of casting appendages, such as gates, risers and flash removal of residues of the moulding material). This method does not give a means of determining the qualityof castings by visual examination.

Diese Norm beschriebt eine Methode zur Bewertung der Oberflächenrauheit von Gussstücken mit Hilfe von Vergleichsmustern. Diese Methode ist bei allen verschiedenen Herstellungsverfahren (z.B. Druckguss, Sandguss) für Gussstücke aus Aluminium- und Kupferlegierungen sowie aus Eisen und Stahl anwendbar. Die Methode kann zur Beurteilung von Gussstücken oder Bereichen von Gussstücken, die nach Putzen und Oberflächenbehandlung in der Giesserei in unbearbeitetem Zustand ausgeliefert werden, angewendet werden. Diese Methode dient nicht zur Ermittlung der Fehrlerfreiheit von Gussstücken durch eine Sichtprüfung.

Cette norme décrit une méthode d'évaluation de la rugosité des pièces moulées au moyen de comparateurs viso-tactiles. La méthode est applicable à tous les procédés de moulage et pour tous les matériaux de moulage. La méthode peut être utilisée pour l'évaluation des pièces entières ou de parties de pièces moulées à l'état brut de fonderie, après avoir enlevé les appendices de coulée tels que attaques, masselottes, bavures et éliminé les résidus du matériau de moulage. Cette méthode ne permet pas de déterminer la qualité des pièces par examen visuel.
