This European Standard specifies safety, health and functional requirements for 12 V direct current (DC) extra low voltage (ELV) electrical installations for habitation aspects of caravans. It covers the design and integration of the caravan system with the towing vehicle system. It does not apply to commercial trailers, nor does it include requirements for ELV road lighting and signalling lamps and their installations.

La présente norme européenne prescrit les exigences relatives à la sécurité et à la santé ainsi que les caractéristiques de fonctionnement des installations électriques à très basse tension (TBT) de 12 V en courant continu, utilisées dans la partie habitable des caravanes. Elle recouvre la conception du système de la caravane et son intégration au système du véhicule tracteur. Elle ne s'applique pas aux remorques commerciales, et ne contient aucune prescription concernant les dispositifs d'éclairage et de signalisation à très basse tension sur la voie publique, ni leur installation.
