This document specifies a method of determining the mass per unit area of hot dip galvanized coatings on ferrous materials.
Since an exact knowledge of the area of the surface is essential, this document is mainly applicable to shapes whose areas are easy to determine. If, with heavy samples, the specifications of Clause 7 cannot be met, then the hot dip galvanized coating mass is determined by another method.

Dieses Dokument legt ein Verfahren für die Bestimmung der flächenbezogenen Masse von Feuerverzinkungen auf Eisenwerkstoffen fest.
Da die genaue Kenntnis der Größe der Oberfläche wesentlich ist, ist dieses Dokument hauptsächlich für Gegenstände mit solchen Formen anwendbar, deren Flächen leicht zu bestimmen sind. Falls bei Proben mit schwer zu bestimmender Oberfläche die Anforderungen in Abschnitt 7 nicht erfüllt werden können, ist die Masse der Schicht des Feuerverzinkungsüberzuges durch ein anderes Verfahren zu bestimmen.

Le présent document spécifie une méthode pour la détermination de la masse par unité de surface des revêtements de galvanisation à chaud sur métaux ferreux.
La connaissance exacte de l'aire de la surface revêtue de zinc étant indispensable, le présent document est essentiellement applicable aux formes dont les surfaces sont faciles à déterminer. Si, avec des échantillons épais, les spécifications de l'Article 7 ne peuvent être satisfaites, la masse du revêtement de galvanisation à chaud est déterminée au moyen d'une autre méthode.

This document (EN ISO 1460:2020) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 107 "Metallic
and other inorganic coatings" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 262 “Metallic and
other inorganic coatings, including for corrosion protection and corrosion testing of metals and alloys”
the secretariat of which is held by BSI.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by March 2021, and conflicting national standards shall
be withdrawn at the latest by March 2021.
