Frequently Asked Questions
ISO/TC 31/SC 7 is a Subcommittee within the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). It is named "Industrial tyres and rims". This committee has published 12 standards.
ISO/TC 31/SC 7 develops ISO standards. Currently, there are 12 published standards from this subcommittee.
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is an independent, non-governmental international organization that develops and publishes international standards. Founded in 1947 and headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, ISO brings together experts from 170+ member countries to share knowledge and develop voluntary, consensus-based standards that support innovation and provide solutions to global challenges.
A Subcommittee (SC) in ISO operates under a Technical Committee and focuses on a specific subset of the TC's scope. Subcommittees develop standards and technical specifications in their specialized area, reporting to their parent Technical Committee. They may also have working groups for detailed technical work.
This document specifies the main requirements of the metric series of pneumatic tyres primarily intended for industrial vehicles, including designations, dimensions and markings. The tyres are based on the following parameters: - speeds not exceeding 50 km/h; - use on 5° tapered or flat base rims. The conversion of code-designated industrial tyres into metric-designated tyres is outside the scope of this document.

ISO 3739-3:2008 specifies the main requirements, including size designation and marking, of 5° tapered and flat base rims, with diameters not exceeding rim diameter code 15 for pneumatic tyres and for solid tyres for pneumatic tyre rims, primarily intended for industrial vehicles for use on prepared surfaces. ISO 3739-1 gives the designation, dimensions and marking, and ISO 3739-2 gives the load ratings, of pneumatic tyres (metric series). ISO 10499-1 covers the designation, dimensions and marking of rubber solid tyres (metric series) for pneumatic tyre rims. Rim dimensions are specified for size and contour only. The tyre and wheel/rim manufacturers are consulted for confirmation of the suitability of the tyre/rim combinations, particularly with regard to rim profile and wheel strength.

ISO 3739-1:2007 specifies the main requirements of the metric series of pneumatic tyres primarily intended for industrial vehicles, including designations, dimensions and markings. The tyres are based on the following parameters: speeds not exceeding 50 km/h; use on 5° tapered or flat base rims. The conversion of code-designated industrial tyres into metric-designated tyres is outside the scope of ISO 3739-1:2007.
