TA 4 - Digital system interfaces and protocols
To develop international publications for digital interfaces and protocols primarily related to video, data (e.g., haptic, text, etc.), and metadata for consumer and professional digital equipment, systems and applications within the scope of TC 100 including: - Video, data and metadata encoding/decoding - Synchronization between all media - Data format and coding (e.g., sensor data, metadata, cont rol data, etc.) - Interoperability of applications for digital equipment and systems - Interfaces and protocols for transmission and control of video, data and metadata - Requirements and/or measurement methods for electrical and physical characteristics (e.g., sampling rate, bandwidth, quantization, format, clock, levels, distortion, noise, visible effects caused by system errors, etc.)

Développer des publications internationales pour des interfaces numériques et des protocoles essentiellement liés à la vidéo, aux données (par exemple : haptic, texte..) et aux métadonnées pour les équipements, des systèmes et des applications numériques grand public et professionnels dans le projet TC100 incluant : - Le codage et le décodage de la vidéo, des données, des métadonnées, la synchronisation entre tous les médias, format et codage des données (par ex : données de capteur, métadonnées, données de contrôle etc...) - Interopérabilité des applications pour les systèmes et équipements numériques- interfaces et protocoles pour la transmission et le contrôle vidéo, de données et de métadonnées. - Exigences et/ou méthodes de mesures pour des particularités électrique et physique (ex : échantillonnage, bande passante, quantification, format, horloge, niveaux, distorsion, bruit, effets visibles causés par des erreurs de système, etc…)
General Information
IEC 61937-1:2021 is available as IEC 61937-1:2021 RLV which contains the International Standard and its Redline version, showing all changes of the technical content compared to the previous edition.IEC 61937-1:2021 applies to the digital audio interface using the IEC 60958 series for the conveying of non-linear PCM encoded audio bitstreams.
It describes the way in which this digital interface can be used in consumer applications. The professional mode is not considered within the scope of this document.
IEC 61937-1:2021 cancels and replaces the second edition published in 2007, and amendment 1 published in 2011. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
a) Activation of Pe field;
b) Enhanced usage of channel status bits.
c) Addition of Annex B.

IEC 61883-1:2008 specifies a digital interface for consumer electronic audio/video equipment using IEEE 1394. It describes the general packet format, data flow management and connection management for audio-visual data, and also the general transmission rules for control commands. It defines a transmission protocol for audio-visual data and control commands which provides for the interconnection of digital audio and video equipment, using IEEE 1394. This third edition of IEC 61883-1 cancels and replaces the second edition, published in 2003 and it constitutes a technical revision. The significant technical changes with respect to the second edition are:
- allocation of a new FMT code for the 1394 Trade Association specification '601 over 1394';
- Clarification of the meaning of FMT code;
- harmonization of IEC 61883-1 with IEEE 1394.1 for speeds over S400. This bilingual version (2012-08) corresponds to the monolingual English version, published in 2008-02.
