BRIEF HISTORY
The IS0 Recommendation R 145, Wrapping Test for Steel Wire, was drawn up by
Technical Committee ISO/TC 17, Steel, the Secretariat of which is held by the British
Standards Institution (B.S.I.).
During the meeting held in London in 1954 by Working Group ISO/TC 17/WG 1,
Methods of Mechanical Testing for Steel, the Danish Member Body submitted a proposal
for this test. This proposal served as the basis for the draft proposal which was submitted
to the Technical Committee during its plenary meeting, held in Stockholm, in June 1955.
In the light of comments by the Technical Committee, the draft proposal was referred
back to Working Group No. 1 for modifications, and was again submitted to the Technical
Committee during its plenary meeting, held in London, in March 1957. As a result of deci-
sions reached at that meeting, a second draft proposal was prepared by the Secretariat and
submitted to all the Members of the Technical Committee for approval. After some minor
amendments had been made, it was found acceptable and a revised version incorporating
these amendments was adopted as a Draft IS0 Recommendation.
On 11 July 1958, the Draft IS0 Recommendation (No. 207) was distributed to all the
IS0 Member Bodies and was approved, subject to some editorial amendments, by the
following Member Bodies:

HISTORIQUE
La Recommandation ISO/R 145, Essai d’enroulement dujl d’acier, a été élaborée par
le Comité Technique ISO/TC 17, Acier, dont le Secrétariat est assuré par la British Standards
Institution (B.S.I.).
Au cours de la réunion du Groupe de Travail ISO/TC 17 GT/l, Méthodes d’essais
mécaniques pour Z’acier, tenue à Londres, en 1954, le Comité Membre du Danemark présenta
une proposition concernant cet essai. Cette proposition servit de base à l’avant-projet qui
fut soumis au Comité Technique lors de sa réunion plénière, tenue à Stockholm, en juin 1955.
Compte tenu des commentaires du Comité Technique, l’avant-projet fut retourné au
Groupe de Travail No 1 afin d’être modifié et soumis à nouveau au Comité Technique lors
de sa réunion plénière, tenue à Londres, en mars 1957. A la suite des décisions prises à cette
réunion, un second avant-projet fut préparé par le Secrétariat et soumis pour approbation
à tous les membres du Comité Technique. Après avoir subi de légers amendements, il fut
approuvé et une version revisée incorporant ces amendements fut adoptée comme Projet
de Recommandation ISO.
En date du 11 juillet 1958, ce Projet de Recommandation IS0 (NO 207) fut distribué
à tous les Comités Membres de 1’ISO et approuvé, sous réserve de quelques modifications
d’ordre rédactionnel, par les Comités Membres suivants :
