Ta del standarda IEC 62196 se uporablja za vtiče, vtičnice, konektorje, uvodnice in kabelske sestave na električnih vozilih (EV) (v nadaljnjem besedilu: »priključki«), namenjene za uporabo v sistemih za kabelsko napajanje, ki vključujejo krmilno sredstvo z nazivno obratovalno napetostjo največ – 690 V izmenične napetosti, 50–60 Hz pri nazivnem toku manj kot 250 A – 1500 V enosmerne napetosti pri nazivnem toku manj kot 400 A.
