This standard covers the following requirement domains: - management, including organisation, reviews, acceptance status and documentation control; - selection criteria and rules; - evaluation, validation/qualification testing; - procurement and receiving inspection; - utilisation criteria and rules. The relationship between activities and programme phases is defined in annex A.

1.1 Généralités
L'objet de la présente norme européenne est de définir les exigences relatives aux matériaux, composants mécaniques et procédés qui permettent de déclarer qu'ils satisfont aux conditions de performance fixées à la mission.
1.2 Objectifs
La présente norme européenne couvre les exigences dans les domaines suivants :
- Le management, et notamment l'organisation, les revues, les états d'acceptation et la maîtrise de la documentation ;
- les critères et règles de sélection ;
- les essais d'évaluation et de validation/qualification ;
- l'approvisionnement et le contrôle d'entrée ;
- les critères et règles d'utilisation.
Les relations entre les activités et les phases d'un programme sont définies dans l'Annexe A.
1.3 Applicabilité
Les dispositions de la présente norme européenne s'appliquent à tous les acteurs impliqués à tous les niveaux de la production de systèmes spatiaux. Ces niveaux peuvent inclure les véhicules spatiaux automatisés ou habités, les lanceurs, des satellites, les charges utiles, les expérimentations, les équipements sol de tests électriques et mécaniques et les organisations correspondantes.
Dans le cas d'un projet spécifique, les exigences de la présente norme doivent être adaptées aux exigences propres au profil et caractéristiques spécifiques du projet.
NOTE   L'adaptation est un processus selon lequel des exigences individuelles de spécifications, standards et documents associés sont évaluées et rendues applicables à un projet spécifique par sélection, et dans des circonstances exceptionnelles, modification d'exigences existantes ou addition de nouvelles.
