This European Standard specifies the chemical composition of magnesium alloys for ingots. It also specifies the chemical composition of magnesium alloy castings. It also specifies the mechanical properties of separately cast samples of these alloys (see clause 6). By agreement, it also specifies the mechanical properties of magnesium alloys castings determined from samples cut from a casting.

Diese europäische Norm legt die chemische Zusammensetzung von Magnesium- legierungen für Blockmetalle fest. Ferner legt sie die chemische Zusammensetzung von Magnesiumlegierungen für Gußstücke fest. Außerdem sind die mechanischen Eigenschaften von getrennt gegossenen Probestücken aus diesen Legierungen (siehe Abschnitt 6) festgelegt, des weiteren nach Vereinbarung die mechanischen Eigenschaften von Magnesiumlegierungen für Gußstücke, die an ausdem Gußstück entnommenen Probestücken ermittelt werden.
