Diese Europäische Norm befasst sich mit den Massen, den zulässigen Abweichungen, den mechanischen, physikalischen und chemischen Güteanforderungender Oberflächenbeschaffenheit und der Kennzeichnung keramischer Fliesen und Platten. Diese Norm gilt nur für trockengepresste keramische Fliesen und Platten der ersten Sorte einschliesslich Fliesentafeln mit niedriger Wasseraufnahme (E<3%) entsprechend der Definition der Gruppe BI, gemäss EN 87, für Wand- und Bodenbeläge im Innen- und Aussenbereich von Bauten.

La présente norme européenne spécifie les dimensions, les tolérances dimensionnelles, les caractéristiques mécaniques, physiques et chimiques, l'aspect et le marquage des carreaux et dalles céramiques. La norme ne s'applique qu'aux carreaux et dalles céramiques pressés à sec de la classe n°1 (premier choix) y compris les carreaux livrés en plaques avec une absorption d'eau (E<3%) suivant le groupe BI de la norme EN 87; ces carreaux sont utilisés en intérieur et extérieur pour les revêtements de sols et de murs.
