Sicherheitsfunktionen dieser Einrichtungen unterliegen den Anforderungen der RID und werden in diesem Dokument nicht beschrieben.
Diese Europäische Norm legt die wichtigsten Abmessungen und Anordnungen der Anschlüsse fest.

La présente Norme européenne spécifie les exigences et les caractéristiques des dispositifs supérieurs de wagons citernes à vidange par le bas uniquement et chargés par le trou d’homme et utilisés pour le transport de matières du RID à l’état liquide. Les fonctions de sécurité de ces dispositifs sont soumises aux exigences du RID et ne sont pas décrites dans le présent document.
La présente Norme européenne spécifie en particulier les dimensions essentielles et les dispositions des raccordements de ces wagons citernes.
La présente Norme européenne s’applique aux nouveaux wagons citernes fabriqués après le 1er janvier 2010.

EN 12561-5:2011 - published by CEN - is the European standard for top vapour-return devices on railway tank wagons that are fitted for bottom emptying only and filled through the manhole. It defines the requirements, important dimensions and arrangements for depressurisation vapour connectors, manholes and related top‑of‑tank equipment used with liquid substances regulated by RID. The standard applies to new tank wagons built after 1 January 2010 (with a specific exclusion for wagons operating exclusively within Great Britain due to loading‑gauge restrictions). Safety functions remain subject to RID and are not described in this document.

- Safety valve assemblies to be fitted in the vapour space on nozzles DN 80 PN 10 per ISO 7005-1.
- Dimensions and tolerances: All dimensions in millimetres; tolerances per EN ISO 286-1.
- Positioning: Manhole and vapour connector faces positioned within reserved areas (see standard Figure 1); vapour connector close to the manhole and opposite the manlid hinge.
