This European Standard specifies the minimum fitness for purpose requirements for valves to be used in, or connected to, water supply pipe systems above or below ground (see EN 805), carrying water intended for human consumption. This standard specifies the design requirements, the performance requirements, and the conformity assessment method for valves, whatever their type and materials.
This standard applies in priority to any other product or test standard : the requirements from other standards apply only when this standard refers to them. This standard deals with the requirements applicable to air valves with DN up to DN 300 and PFA 6 to PFA 25.

Diese Europäische Norm legt die Mindestanforderungen an die Gebrauchstauglichkeit von Ventilen fest, die in oberirdisch oder erdverlegten Rohrleitungssystemen für die Wasserversorgung (siehe EN 805) verwendet werden oder mit diesen verbunden sind; und die Wasser für den menschlichen Verbrauch fördern. Diese Norm legt die Anforderungen an die Konstruktion, die Anforderungen an die Gebrauchstauglichkeit und das Konformitätsbewertungsverfahren für Ventile unabhängig von ihrer Bauart und den Werkstoffen fest.
Diese Norm gilt vorranging vor jeder anderen Produkt- oder Prüfnorm. Die Anforderungen anderer Normen gelten nur, wenn diese Norm auf sie Bezug nimmt. Diese Norm behandelt Anforderungen an Be- und Entlüftungsventile mit Schwimmkörper mit Nennweiten bis DN 300 und von PFA 6 bis PFA 25.
