  • Lateral load consideration: Lifting points must also resist lateral forces up to 15% of the vertical force in combination with the separately determined maximum vertical force.

This document (EN 12663-1:2010/FprA1:2014) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 256
“Railway applications”, the secretariat of which is held by DIN.
This document is currently submitted to the Unique Acceptance Procedure.
This document has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and the
European Free Trade Association, and supports essential requirements of EU Directive(s).
For relationship with EU Directive(s), see informative Annex ZA, which is an integral part of this document.
NOTE Due to fact that the Framework Partnership Agreement between the Commission and CEN &
CENELEC is not signed yet, there are currently no New Approach Consultants in place for 2014. Therefore
the provisions of CEN-CENELEC Guide 15 cannot be met.

This document also specifies the requirements for testing of entrance systems.
This document makes reference to manual and power operated entrance systems. For manual doors, clauses referring to power operation are not applicable.

This document is also applicable to machines and associated equipment that in working mode are partly supported on the ballast or the formation.
The requirements in this document are based on the assumption that the machines are used, operated and maintained by skilled person(s).
This document does not apply to the following:
-   requirements for quality of the work or performance of the machine;
-   use of separate equipment temporarily mounted on machines;
-   machines that utilize the overhead contact line system for traction purposes or as a power source;
-   hazards due to air pressure caused by the passing of high-speed trains at more than 200 km/h
-   operation subject to special rules, e.g. potentially explosive atmospheres;
