FOREWORD
This amendment has been prepared by IEC technical committee 61: Safety of household and

similar electrical appliances.

The text of this amendment is based on the following documents:

7 Marking and instructions
Add the following new subclauses:
7.6 Addition:

7.10 Addition:
The off position of touch controls for hobs shall be marked by the symbol O and the on
position by the symbol I. If there is no touch control for the hob, this requirement applies to
the touch controls for each hob element.
NOTE  If the same touch control is used for switching on and off, symbol 5010 of IEC 60417-1 may be used.
7.12 Add the following new sentence:

The instructions for cooking ranges, hobs and ovens shall state that a steam cleaner is not to
be used.
11 Heating
11.1 Replace the existing text by the following:

Compliance is also checked by the tests of 11.101 and 11.102.

11.7.7 Replace the existing text by the following:

If the appliance incorporates a socket-outlet, an appropriate plug listed in IEC 60083 is
engaged. The plug is connected to a 1 kW resistive load by means of an ordinary polyvinyl
chloride sheathed flexible cord (code designation 60337 IEC 53) having a cross-sectional

area of 0,75 mm . The temperature rise of the plug is determined during the last 30 min of the

test.
11.8 Replace the last paragraph by the following:

The temperature rise of the plug, measured 2 mm below the surface at the centre of the

engagement face, shall not exceed 45 K.
