IEC 62065:2025 specifies the minimum operational and performance requirements, test methods and required test results conforming to performance standards adopted by the IMO in resolution MSC.74(69) Annex 2 Recommendation on Performance Standards for Track Control Systems. In addition, it takes into account IMO resolution A.694(17) to which IEC 60945 is associated. It also takes into account IMO resolution MSC.302(87) on bridge alert management (BAM), to which IEC 62923-1 and IEC 62923-2 are associated.
This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition published in 2014. This edition constitutes a technical revision.
This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
a) alert management has been brought in line with MSC.302(87), IEC 62923-1 and IEC 62923‑2, reducing the number of alerts for one situation and improving the information provided by alerts. An overview is provided in Annex F;
b) the previous Annex F has been removed as it was outdated and not instrumental in this document;
c) the requirements in Clause 5 have been further detailed:
d) the structure of Clause 6 has been updated.

IEC 62288:2021 specifies the general requirements, methods of testing, and required test results, for the presentation of navigation-related information on shipborne navigational displays in support of IMO resolutions MSC.191(79) as amended by MSC.466(101) in June 2019, and where applicable MSC.302(87). This document also supports the guidelines included in the related IMO Circulars MSC.1/Circ.1609 on the standardization of user interface design for navigation equipment and SN.1/Circ.243 as revised in June 2019 on the presentation of navigation related symbols, terms, and abbreviations. This document also specifies the presentation of AIS data reports and the AIS Application Specific Messages defined for international use in IMO SN.1/Circ.289 and intended to be received by a ship for display onboard.

IEC 61162-460:2024 is an add-on to IEC 61162-450 where higher safety and security standards are needed, for example due to higher exposure to external threats or to improve network integrity. This document provides requirements and test methods for equipment to be used in an IEC 61162-460 compliant network as well as requirements for the network itself and requirements for interconnection from the network to other networks. This document also contains requirements for a redundant IEC 61162-460 compliant network. This document does not introduce new application level protocol requirements to those that are defined in IEC 61162-450.

IEC 61162-2:2024 contains the requirements for data communication between maritime electronic instruments, navigation and radiocommunication equipment when interconnected via an appropriate interface. This document is intended to support one-way serial data transmission from a single talker to one or more listeners. This data is in printable ASCII form and can include any information as specified by approved sentences or information coded according to the rules for proprietary sentences. Typical messages can be from 11 to a maximum of 79 characters in length and generally require repetition rates up to once per 20 ms. The electrical definitions in this document are intended to accommodate higher data rates than are specified in IEC 61162-1. Since there is no provision for guaranteed delivery of messages and only limited error-checking capability, it is important this document is used with caution in all safety applications.

IEC 61162-1:2024 contains the requirements for data communication between maritime electronic instruments, navigation and radiocommunication equipment when interconnected via an appropriate system. This document is intended to support one-way serial data transmission from a single talker to one or more listeners. These data are in printable ASCII form and can include information such as position, speed, depth, frequency allocation, etc. Typical messages can be from about 11 to a maximum of 79 characters in length and generally require transmission no more rapidly than one message per second. The electrical definitions in this document are not intended to accommodate high-bandwidth applications such as radar or video imagery, or intensive database or file transfer applications. Since there is no provision for guaranteed delivery of messages and only limited error checking capability, it is important this document is used with caution in all safety applications. For applications where a faster transmission rate is necessary, IEC 61162-2 applies. For applications to shore based equipment of the automatic identification system (AIS) the IEC 62320 series applies.
