EN 60335-2-13:2010/A11:2012 is a CENELEC amendment that updates the European safety requirements for household and similar electrical appliances specifically used for frying: deep fat fryers (recommended maximum oil quantity ≤ 5 L), frying pans, woks and similar oil‑based cooking appliances. - Continuous monitoring during temperature-rise tests; limits given in Table 3 and new Table Z101.
- Table Z101 – maximum temperature rises (K) under normal operation: bare metal 45 K; coated metal 55 K; glass/ceramic 60 K; plastic (>0.3 mm) 65 K.
- Notes clarify coating thicknesses, exclusions (hot functional surfaces, vessels containing oil, handles, certain cavities), and allowance: if construction prevents meeting limits, temperature rise may be up to twice the values but must include a warning label.
- Measurement guidance (clause 11.Z101): defines normal operation conditions and surfaces/areas where temperature rises are not measured (e.g., lids, within 25 mm of lid edges or ventilation openings, underside inaccessible to probe 41 per EN 61032).

This amendment A11 modifies the European Standard EN 60335-2-13:2010; it was approved by CENELEC on
2012-07-09. CENELEC members are bound to comply with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations which
stipulate the conditions for giving this amendment the status of a national standard without any alteration.
Up-to-date lists and bibliographical references concerning such national standards may be obtained on
application to the CEN-CENELEC Management Centre or to any CENELEC member.
This amendment exists in three official versions (English, French, German). A version in any other language
made by translation under the responsibility of a CENELEC member into its own language and notified to the

1 Scope

This clause of Part 1 is replaced by the following.
This European Standard deals with the safety of electric deep fat fryers having a recommended
maximum quantity of oil not exceeding 5 l, frying pans, woks and other appliances in which oil is used
for cooking, and intended for household use and similar use, their rated voltage being not more than
250 V.
Appliances intended to be used by laymen in shops and other premises for normal housekeeping
purposes, are within the scope of this European Standard.
NOTE Z101 Examples of appliance for household environment are appliances for typical housekeeping functions used in the
household environment that may also be used by non-expert users for typical housekeeping functions:
– in shops and other similar working environments;
– in farm houses;
– by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments;
