This European Standard specifies procedures for the determination of the resistance of coarse aggregate to fragmentation. Two methods are defined: a) The Los Angeles test (reference method), b) The impact test (alternative method). Note:The impact test can be used as an alternative to the Los Angeles test but acorrelation with the Los Angeles test shouldfirst be established to avoid double testing and ensure mutual recognition of results. The Los Angeles test (reference method) should be used in cases of dispute.

Diese Europäische Norm legt Abläufe zur Bestimmung des Widerstandes gegen Zertrümmerung von groben Gesteinskörnungen fest. Es werden zwei Verfahren definiert: a) das Los Angeles-Prüfverfahren (Referenzverhalten), b) der Schlagversuch (alternatives Verfahren). Der Schlagversuch kann als Alternative zum Los Angeles-Prüfverfahren verwendet werden, es sollte jedoch zuerst eine Korrelation zum Los Angeles-Prüfverfahren aufgestellt werden, um eine Doppelprüfung zu vermeiden und eine gegenseitige Anerkennung der Ergebnisse sicherzustellen.

La présente norme européenne prescrit les méthodes pour la détermination de la résistance à la fragmentation d'un granulat grossier. Deux méthodes sont définies: a) l'essai Los Angeles (méthode de référence), b) l'essai de fragmentation par impact (autre méthode). L'essai de fragmentation dynamique peut être utilisé à la place de l'essai Los Angeles, mais une corrélation avec l'essai Los Angeles doit d'abord être effectuée afin d'éviter les contre essais et d'assurer une reconnaissance mutuelle des résultats. En cas de litige, l'essai Los Angeles (méthode de référence) devrait être utilisé.
