This European Standard describes the reference method, used for type testing and in case of dispute, for determination of the resistance of coarse aggregate to wear by abrasion from studded tyres. For other purposes, in particular production control, other methods may be used, provided that an appropriate working relationship with the reference method has been established.
The test is applicable to aggregates with a size fraction of 11,2 mm to 16 mm.
NOTE An alternative size fraction 8/11,2 mm for different end uses is given in Annex A.

Diese Europäische Norm beschreibt das Referenzverfahren für die Typenprüfung und im Streitfall, für die Bestimmung des Widerstandes der groben Gesteinskörnung gegen Verschließ durch Spikereifen. Für andere Zwecke, insbesondere der Produktionskontrolle in Fabriken, dürfen andere Verfahren angewendet werden, sofern ein ausreichender Zusammenhang mit diesem Referenzverfahren nachgewiesen wurde.
Die Prüfung ist für Gesteinskörnungen mit einer Körnung von 11,2 mm bis 16,0 mm anwendbar.
ANMERKUNG In Anhang A ist eine alternative Kornklasse 8/11,2 mm für verschiedene Verwendungszwecke angegeben.

La présente Norme européenne décrit la méthode de référence utilisée pour les essais de type et en cas de litige pour déterminer la résistance des gravillons à l’usure par abrasion provoquée par les pneus à crampons. À d’autres fins, en particulier pour la maîtrise de la production des granulats, d’autres méthodes peuvent être utilisées, à condition qu’une corrélation appropriée avec la méthode de référence ait été établie.
L’essai est applicable aux granulats de fraction granulométrique comprise entre 11,2 mm et 16 mm.
NOTE Une fraction granulométrique alternative 8/11,2 mm destinée à des utilisations différentes est fournie en Annexe A.
