This European Standard constitutes guidelines containing general recommendations on the corrosion protection of iron and steel structures, including connections, by zinc or aluminium coatings. Particular reference is made to hot dip coating and thermal spraying on hot-rolled steel or cold-formed steel but these recommendations also apply to other zinc coatings (electroplating, mechanical coating, sherardizing, etc.).

Diese europäische Norm beinhaltet einen Leitfaden bezüglich des Korrosionsschutzes von Eisen- und Stahlkonstruktionen einschließlich ihrer Verbindungsmittel durch Zink- oder Aluminiumüberzüge. Die Norm behandelt u.a. das Feuerverzinken und das Thermische Spritzen von warm- bzw. kaltgewalztem Stahl, ebenso können diese Empfehlungen für andere Arten von Zinküberzügen Anwendung finden (z.B. elektrolytische Verzinkung, mechanisches Plattieren, Sherardisieren usw.).

La présente norme européenne est un guide formulant des recommandations générales relatives à la protection contre la corrosion des constructions en fer et en acier, fixations comprises, par des revêtements en zinc ou en aluminium. Si les revêtements obtenus par galvanisation à chaud et projection thermique sur de l'acier laminé à chaud ou formé à froid sont les plus souvent cités, les recommandations formulées dans le présent document s'appliquent également aux autres types de revêtements en zinc (zingage électrolytique, matoplastie, shérardisation, etc.).
