Bitumen and bituminous binders - Terminology
This European Standard defines terms for bitumen of various types and binders derived from bitumen. Should this standard be intended to cover materials only within the scope of TC 19, i.e. only petroleum-derived materials, it should con sequently not extend to non-petroleum "hydrocarbon" binders such as coal tar andits derivatives or to natural asphalts. However, some definitions are given for some excluded materials and related terms. The corresponding terms were introduced only when they appeared in a definition of a product or process and when their definition was found necessary for understanding or for avoiding any ambiguity

Diese Europäische Norm definiert Begriffe für Bitumen verschiedener Sorten und für bitumenhaltige Bindemittel. Sollte es beabsichtigt sein, daß diese Norm nur Materialien innerhalb des Bereichs des TC 19 umfaßt, d.h. aus Erdöl hergestellte Materialien, dann sollte sie folglich nicht auf "Kohlenwasserstoff"-Bindemittel, die nicht auf Erdöl basieren wie Steinkohlenteer und seine Derivate oder Naturasphalte ausgedehnt werden. Jedoch werden einige Definitionen für einige ausgeschlossene Materialien und verwandte Begriffe angegeben.

La présente Norme européenne donne les définitions des termes utilisés pour les bitumes à usages routiers ou industriels et les liants dérivés du bitume. Cette Norme n'est censée aborder que les matériaux couverts par le domaine d'applicat ion du CEN/TC 19, c'est-à-dire les dérivés du pétrole. Par conséquent il convi ent qu'elle ne couvre pas les liants hydrocarbonés non pétroliers, tels que le goudron et ses dérivés, et les asphalts naturels. Néanmoins, certaines définiti ons sont données pour des matériaux qui ne sont pas inclus dans le domaine d'application.
