This document specifies the technical conditions for inspection and delivery of wrought aluminium and wrought aluminium alloy sheet, strip and plate for general applications. It also includes provisions for ordering and testing.
It applies to products with a thickness over 0,20 mm up to and including 400 mm.
For many special applications of aluminium strip, sheet and plate, specific European Standards exist, where different or additional requirements are formulated and the appropriate alloys and tempers are selected: see Annex A. Most of these special European Standards refer to provisions of this document.
The selection of the relevant special European Standards is under the responsibility of the purchaser.
Whenever the application involves special properties, such as corrosion resistance, toughness, fatigue strength, surface appearance and welding properties, the user should consult the supplier and consider the relevant special European Standard, as applicable.

and aluminium alloys”, the secretariat of which is held by AFNOR.

by endorsement, at the latest by April 2010, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by
April 2010.

For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in EN 12258-1:1998 and the following apply.

sheet/plate
flat rolled product of rectangular cross-section with uniform thickness between 0,20 mm and 6 mm for sheet or
above 6 mm for plate, supplied in straight lengths (i.e. flat) usually with trimmed or sawn edges
NOTE 1 For sheet, the thickness does not exceed one-tenth of the width.
NOTE 2 Corrugated, embossed (with patterns, for example grooves, ribs, checkers, tears, buttons, lozenges), coated, edge
conditioned and perforated products in this general form when derived from sheet as defined above are classified as sheet.
NOTE 3 Flat sheets and plates material between 3 mm and 15 mm are sometimes called “shate".

NOTE An order document can be an order of the purchaser confirmed by the supplier or a quotation of the supplier
confirmed by the purchaser.
4 Ordering information
The order document shall contain the following:
a) form and type of product:
form of the product (sheet, strip, plate, etc.);
designation of the aluminium or aluminium alloy;
b) temper of the material for delivery according to EN 515 and, if different, the temper for use;
c) reference to this European Standard;
d) specification of mechanical properties, if additional to or different from !EN 485-2";
e) reference to the standard for tolerances of form and dimensions (EN 485-3 or EN 485-4);
f) dimensions and shape of the product:
thickness;
width;
length of sheet and plate, as applicable (in the rolling direction);
internal and external diameters of the coil, or dimension and type of the core, as applicable.
NOTE 1 Unless otherwise agreed, the length is the largest dimension of the sheet or plate and corresponds to the rolling
direction.
g) specification or tolerances, if additional to or different from EN 485-3 or EN 485-4;
h) quantity:
mass or number of pieces;
quantity tolerances if required;
i) any requirements for inspection documents;
j) any other test, in addition to chemical analysis and tensile testing;
k) any additional requirements, such as:
quality assurance;
specific inspection schemes;
marking of products;
references of drawing, etc.;
special packing requirements;
l) for products intended for decorative anodizing by the purchaser, the order document shall also contain the

Dieses Dokument (EN 485-1:2008+A1:2009) wurde vom Technischen Komitee CEN/TC 132 „Aluminium und
Aluminiumlegierungen“ erarbeitet, dessen Sekretariat vom AFNOR gehalten wird.
Diese Europäische Norm muss den Status einer nationalen Norm erhalten, entweder durch Veröffentlichung
eines identischen Textes oder durch Anerkennung bis April 2010, und etwaige entgegenstehende nationale

Im Rahmen seines Arbeitsprogramms hat das Technische Komitee CEN/TC 132 die CEN/TC 132/WG 7
„Bänder, Bleche und Platten“ mit der Überarbeitung der EN 485-1:1993 beauftragt.
EN 485 besteht aus den folgenden Teilen mit dem allgemeinen Titel Aluminium und Aluminiumlegierungen —
Bänder, Bleche und Platten:
⎯ Teil 1: Technische Lieferbedingungen
⎯ Teil 2: Mechanische Eigenschaften
⎯ Teil 3: Grenzabmaße und Formtoleranzen für warmgewalzte Erzeugnisse
⎯ Teil 4: Grenzabmaße und Formtoleranzen für kaltgewalzte Erzeugnisse
Außer geringfügigen redaktionellen Änderungen des Textes und der Aktualisierung der normativen Ver-
weisungen, wurden folgende technischen Änderungen durchgeführt:
⎯ Abschnitt 1: Dicke auf 400 mm erhöht;
⎯ Abschnitt 6 (vorher in EN 485-2) hinzugefügt;
⎯ Abschnitt 7 geändert;
⎯ Abschnitt 10 hinzugefügt;
⎯ Literaturhinweise aufgenommen.
CEN/TC 132 bekräftigt seine Vorgehensweise, dass in dem Fall, wenn ein Patentinhaber sich weigert, für ge-
normte Erzeugnisse Lizenzen unter angemessenen und nicht diskriminierenden Bedingungen zu erteilen,
dieses Erzeugnis aus der entsprechenden Norm entfernt werden muss.
Entsprechend der CEN/CENELEC-Geschäftsordnung sind die nationalen Normungsinstitute der folgenden

3 Begriffe
Für die Anwendung dieses Dokuments gelten die Begriffe nach EN 12258-1:1998 und die folgenden Begriffe.
3.1
Blech/Platte
flachgewalztes Erzeugnis mit rechteckigem Querschnitt, einer gleichmäßigen Dicke zwischen 0,20 mm und
6 mm für Bleche oder über 6 mm für Platten, das in geraden Längen (d. h. flach), üblicherweise mit be-
schnittenen bzw. gesägten Kanten geliefert wird
ANMERKUNG 1 Bei Blechen beträgt die Dicke nicht mehr als 1/10 der Breite.
ANMERKUNG 2 Erzeugnisse, die rollgeformt, geprägt (z. B. mit Streifen-, Riffel-, Karo-, Tropfen-, Knopf- und Rauten-
mustern), beschichtet, gelocht, oder mit abgerundeten Kanten versehen sind, werden als Blech eingestuft, wenn sie aus
einem mit dem obigen Begriff übereinstimmenden Erzeugnis stammen.
ANMERKUNG 3 Flache Bleche und Platten zwischen 3 mm und 15 mm werden manchmal „shate“ genannt.
3.2
Band
flachgewalztes Erzeugnis mit rechteckigem Querschnitt und einer gleichmäßigen Dicke über 0,20 mm, das
aufgerollt, üblicherweise mit besäumten Kanten geliefert wird
ANMERKUNG 1 Die Dicke beträgt nicht mehr als 1/10 der Breite.
ANMERKUNG 2 Erzeugnisse, die rollgeformt, geprägt (z. B. mit Streifen-, Riffel-, Karo-, Tropfen-, Knopf- und Rauten-
mustern), beschichtet, gelocht, oder mit abgerundeten Kanten versehen sind, werden als Band eingestuft, wenn sie aus

ANMERKUNG 3 „Band“ wird manchmal „coil“ genannt.
3.3
Bestelldokument
Dokument oder Reihe von Dokumenten, das (die) bei einer Bestellung zwischen Lieferer und Käufer zu
vereinbaren ist (sind)
ANMERKUNG Ein Bestelldokument kann ein Auftrag des Käufers sein, der vom Lieferer bestätigt wird oder ein
Angebot des Lieferers, das vom Käufer bestätigt wird.
4 Bestellangaben
Das Bestelldokument muss folgende Angaben enthalten:
a) Form und Art des Erzeugnisses:
⎯ die Form des Erzeugnisses (Blech, Band, Platte usw.),
⎯ die Bezeichnung des Aluminiums oder der Aluminiumlegierung;
b) Werkstoffzustand des Materials bei Lieferung nach EN 515 und, falls abweichend, den Werkstoffzustand
bei Anwendung;
c) Verweis auf diese Europäische Norm;
d) Angabe der mechanischen Eigenschaften, falls abweichend von !EN 485-2" oder zusätzlich;
e) Grenzabmaße und Formtoleranzen mit Verweis auf die entsprechende Norm (EN 485-3 oder EN 485-4);
f) Maße und Form des Erzeugnisses:
⎯ Dicke,
⎯ Breite,
⎯ Länge des Bleches oder der Platte (in Walzrichtung),
⎯ Innen- und Außendurchmesser des Bandes oder Maße der Hülse und Art, wie zutreffend.
ANMERKUNG 1 Sofern nichts anderes vereinbart wurde, ist die Länge das größte Maß des Bleches oder der Platte und
stimmt mit der Walzrichtung überein.
g) Angabe der Grenzabmaße und Formtoleranzen, falls abweichend von EN 485-3 oder EN 485-4 oder aber
zusätzlich;
h) die Menge:
