This Standard is applicable to the Application Layer of the Dedicated Short-Range Communication (DSRC) system. Figure 2 illustrates the global data flow between the elements of the DSRC system, (Physical, Data Link and Application Layer) and the application.

This European Standard specifies the Application Layer Core which provides communication tools for applications
based on DSRC. These tools consist of Kernels that can be used by application processes via service primitives.
The application processes, including application data and application specific functions, are outside the scope of
this European Standard.
The standard is named 'Application Layer' although
- it does not cover all functionality of OSI Layer 7 and
- it includes functionality from lower layers.
This European Standard uses services provided by DSRC Data Link Layer, [EN 12795], and covers functionality of
intermediate layers of the OSI Basic Reference Model [EN ISO/IEC 7498-1].
Figure 1 illustrates the global data flow between the parts of the DSRC stack (Physical, Data Link and Application
Layers) and the application.
The following subjects are covered by this European Standard:
- application Layer structure and framework;
- services to enable data transfer and remote operations;
- application multiplexing procedure;
- fragmentation procedure;
- concatenation and Chaining procedures;
- common encoding rules to translate data from abstract syntax ASN.1, [ISO/IEC 8824-1], into transfer syntax,
[ISO/IEC 8825-2], and vice versa;
- communication initialisation and release procedures;
- broadcast service support;
- DSRC management support including communication profile handling.
It is outside the scope of this European Standard to define a security policy. Some transport mechanisms for
security related data are provided.
NOTE During the lifetime of ENV 12834:1997, no implementation of the Broadcast Pool functionality has become known.
Broadcast Pool functionality is therefore considered untested and is kept in this European Standard for compatibility with the
ENV only.

This document establishes the required or the achievable classes of part properties for additive manufactured polymer parts in order to get a common understanding on part quality. It is aimed at providers of manufacturing services for polymer parts who use additive manufacturing machines and at the customers for these services. Designers of parts as well as buyers and providers of manufacturing services can specify, in a traceable manner, the required or the achievable level of part properties with the aid of this document. The classification is based on mechanical, physical and geometrical properties. Further properties can be defined between buyer and provider of manufacturing.
This document is applicable to parts that have been manufactured from a thermoplastic polymer by means of thermal reaction fusion of material typically applied by a powder bed fusion (PBF) or material extrusion (MEX) processes. This document is also applicable to thermoplastic parts made by other processes, provided that due consideration is given to process-specific topics.
The classification of part properties applies to parts in as-built condition, that have been unpacked from the build space, with all support structures removed, but prior to any post-processing operations.
Specific industries (e.g. aerospace and medical) typically specify additional requirements.

The method is not applicable to volatile substances, i.e. substances for which H (Henry's constant) or the air/water partition coefficient is greater than 1, or for which the vapour pressure exceeds 300 Pa at 25 °C.

In respect of pan-European eCall (operating requirements defined in EN 16072), this document defines the high-level application protocols, procedures and processes required to provide the eCall service using a TS12 emergency call over a circuit-switched mobile communications network.
NOTE 1   The objective of implementing the pan-European in-vehicle emergency call system (eCall) is to automate the notification of a traffic accident, wherever in Europe, with the same technical standards and the same quality of services objectives by using a PLMN (such as ETSI prime medium) which supports the European harmonized 112/E112 emergency number (TS12 ETSI TS 122 003) and to provide a means of manually triggering the notification of an emergency incident.
NOTE 2   HLAP requirements for third-party services supporting eCall can be found in EN 16102, and have been developed in conjunction with the development of this work item, and is consistent in respect of the interface to the PSAP. This deliverable makes reference to those provisions but does not duplicate them.
