Flame arresters - Performance requirements, test methods and limits for use
This standard specifies the requirements for flame arresters which prevent flame transmission when flammable gas/air- or vapour/air-mixtures are present. It establishes uniform principles for the classification, basic construction and marking of flame arresters and specifies test methods to verify the safety requirements and determine safe limits of use. This standard does not cover the following:
- External safety-related measurement and control equipment which may be required to keep the operational conditions within the established safe limits. - Flame arresters used for explosive mixtures of vapours and gases, which tend to self-decompose (e.g
acetylene) or which are chemically unstable. - Flame arresters used for carbon disulphide due to its special properties. - Flame arresters used for gas or vapour mixtures containing more than the atmospheric oxygen concentration. - Flame arrester test procedures for internal combustion, compression ignition engines. Refer to EN 1834-1 and EN 1834-2. The safety factors incorporated into the tests specified in this standard mean that the uncertainty of measurement inherent in good quality, regularly calibrated measurement equipment is not considered to have any significant detrimental effect on the results and need not be taken into account when making the measurements necessary to verify compliance of the flame arrester with the requirements of this standard.
Flammendurchschlagsicherungen - Leistungsanforderungen, Prüfverfahren und Einsatzgrenzen
Diese Europäische Norm legt die Anforderungen an Flammendurchschlagsicherungen fest, die Flammendurchschläge bei Vorhandensein von brennbaren Gas/Luft- oder Dampf/Luftgemischen verhindern. Sie stellt einheitliche Grundsätze für die Klassifizierung, die grundlegende Konstruktion und die Kennzeichnung von Flammendurchschlagsicherungen auf und legt Prüfverfahren zur Überprüfung der Sicherheitsanforderungen und zur Bestimmung der sicheren Anwendungs- grenzen fest. Diese Norm erstreckt sich nicht auf:
- Externe sicherheitsrelevante Meß- und Überwachungseinrichtungen, die erforderlich sind, um die Betriebsbedingungen innerhalb der festgelegten sicheren Grenzen zu halten. - Flammendurchschlagsicherungen für explosionsfähige Dampf- und Gasgemische, die zum Selbstzerfall neigen (z. B. Acetylen) oder chemisch instabil sind. - Flammendurchschlagsicherungen, die bei Schwefelkohlenstoff eingesetzt werden, da dieser spezielle Eigenschaften besitzt. - Flammendurchschlagsicherungen, die bei Gas- oder Dampfgemischen eingesetzt werden, deren Sauerstoffkonzentration höher ist als die der Atmosphäre. - Prüfverfahren für Flammendurchschlagsicherungen für Verbrennungsmotore. Dafür siehe EN 1834-1 und EN 1834-2. Aufgrund der Sicherheitsfaktoren, die bei den in dieser Norm angegebenen Prüfungen berücksichtigt wurden, beeinträchtigt die Meßunsicherheit der ordnungsgemäßen regelmäßig kalibrierten Meßausrüstung die Ergebnisse nicht. Die Meßunsicherheiten müssen in der Regel daher bei den Prüfungen der Flammendurchschlagsicherungen, die nach dieser Norm notwendig sind, nicht berücksichtigt werden.
Arrête-flamme - Exigences de performance, méthodes d'essai et limites d'utilisation
La présente norme spécifie les exigences applicables aux arrête-flammes qui préviennent la transmission d'une flamme en présence de mélanges inflammables de gaz/air ou de vapeur/air. Elle établit des principes homogènes de classification, de construction de base et de marquage des arrête-flammes et spécifie des méthodes d'essai permettant de vérifier les exigences de sécurité et de déterminer des limites de sécurité d'utilisation. La présente norme ne concerne pas les aspects suivants : - les appareils externes de mesures et de commande liés à la sécurité qui peuvent être nécessaires pour maintenir les conditions opérationnelles dans les limites de sécurité établies ; - les arrête-flammes utilisés pour des mélanges explosifs de vapeurs et de gaz qui ont tendance à s'auto-décomposer (par exemple : l'acétylène) ou qui sont chimiquement instables ; - les arrête-flammes utilisés pour le disulfure de carbone du fait de ses propriétés spécifiques ; - les arrête-flammes utilisés pour les mélanges de gaz ou de vapeurs ayant une concentration en oxygène de
l'air plus importante que la concentration habituelle ; - les modes opératoires d'essai des arrête-flammes pour les moteurs à combustion interne et à allumage par compression. Se référer à l' EN 1834-1 et à l' EN 1834-2. Les facteurs de sécurité intégrés aux essais spécifiés dans la présente norme impliquent que l'incertitude de mesurage inhérente à un appareil de mesurage calibré de manière régulière et de bonne qualité n'est pas considérée comme ayant un effet négatif significatif sur les résultats et n'a pas besoin d'être prise en compte dans les mesurages effectués, nécessaires à la vérification de la conformité de l'arrêt-flammes avec les exigences de la présente norme.
