This document (EN 352-9:2020) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 159 “Hearing
protectors”, the secretariat of which is held by DIN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by May 2021 and conflicting national standards shall be
withdrawn at the latest by November 2023.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of

This document has been prepared under a standardization request given to CEN by the European

Introduction
The requirements of this standard are concerned with the safety-related audio input performance of the
earplugs. Sound output levels and criterion input signals are reported in the user information.
