This European Standard is applicable to active noise reduction (ANR) earmuffs. It specifies requirements on construction, design, performance, marking and user information related to the inclusion of the active noise reduction facility.

Dieses Dokument ist anzuwenden für Kapselgehörschützer mit aktiver Geräuschkompensation (ANR, en: Active Noise Reduction). Es legt für die Integration der aktiven Geräuschkompensation Anforderungen hinsichtlich Konstruktion, Gestaltung, Leistung, Kennzeichnung und Benutzerinformationen fest.
Kapselgehörschützer mit aktiver Geräuschkompensation haben die Aufgabe, mit Hilfe einer das Geräusch „auslöschenden“ Schaltung eine zusätzliche Schalldämmung der Umgebungsgeräusche zu bewirken. Diese zusätzliche Schalldämmung wird üblicherweise für tiefe und mittlere Frequenzen bereitgestellt. Sie sind für den Einsatz in tieffrequentem Lärm mit hohen Schallpegeln geeignet.

Le présent document est applicable aux serre-tête à atténuation active du bruit (ANR). Il spécifie les exigences en matière de construction, de conception, de performances et de marquage ainsi que les informations destinées à l'utilisateur pour ce qui concerne l'incorporation du dispositif d'atténuation active du bruit.
Les serre-tête à atténuation active du bruit sont conçus pour assurer un affaiblissement supplémentaire des sons externes au moyen d'un circuit anti-bruit. En général, cet affaiblissement supplémentaire est assuré aux basses et moyennes fréquences. Ce type de protecteur peut être sélectionné pour des environnements de bruit élevé dominés par les basses fréquences.

This document (EN 352-5:2020) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 159 “Hearing
protectors”, the secretariat of which is held by DIN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by May 2021, and conflicting national standards shall be
withdrawn at the latest by November 2023.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of
patent rights. CEN shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This document supersedes EN 352-5:2002, EN 352-5:2002/A1:2005.
This document has been prepared under a standardization request given to CEN by the European

NOTE 1 The technical changes referred to include the significant technical changes from the EN revised but
is not an exhaustive list of all modifications from the previous edition.

EU Regulation (EU) 2016/425 on personal protective equipment. No changes have been made to minimum
safety requirements. The modifications do not affect the state of art of the product requirements for these
products.

earmuffs.
