This part of IEC 60079-35 details those performance and other safety features of caplights, including those with a point of connection for another equipment, not covered in IEC 60079-35-1, but which are important for the safety and working conditions of the user. It may also be applied to caplights for use in mines not likely to be endangered by firedamp.

This part of IEC 60079-35 specifies requirements for the construction, testing and marking of caplights, including caplights with a point of connection for other equipment, for use in mines susceptible to firedamp (Group I - electrical equipment for explosive gas atmospheres as defined in IEC 60079-0). It deals only with the risk of the caplight becoming a source of ignition. The requirements for performance are in IEC 60079-35-2.1 This standard supplements and modifies the general requirements of IEC 60079-0 except as indicated in Table 1. Where a requirement of this standard conflicts with a requirement of IEC 60079-0, the requirements of this standard take precedence. Compliance with this standard will provide an EPL of Mb (see 4.1 of this standard). If an EPL of Ma is required, the caplight will need to conform to the requirements of 4.2 of this standard, which in turn refers to IEC 60079-11. It is expected that from time to time, caplights conforming to this standard (EPL Mb) will operate in atmospheres where the firedamp exceeds statutory levels that require the withdrawal of people from the high firedamp atmosphere to a non-hazardous area. In designing equipment for operation in conditions other than those given above, this standard may be used as guidance; however, additional testing may be required. Where a caplight is assessed as intrinsically safe equipment, Ex ia, conforming to IEC 60079- 11 only the clauses/subclauses listed in 4.2 require application.

This document applies to air shutter frames and air doors for ventilation structures which are to remain functional after the passage of explosions with overpressures of up to 2 bar.
Ventilation structures are protective systems to provide the ventilation flow after the occurrence of an explosion such that the effects of an explosion on the ventilation system can be limited and adequate possibilities remain for escape and rescue.
NOTE These structures may be used when ventilation studies indicate that the air flow in the work place would be reduced considerably providing no safe escape for workers in cases where the structure is destroyed. Explosion proof ventilation structures will be individually evaluated for directional stability of ventilation flows and in order to ensure adequate ventilation flows.

This part of IEC 62013 details those performance and other safety features of caplights, including those with a point of connection for another apparatus, not covered in IEC 62013-1, but which are important for the safety and working conditions of the user. It may also be applied to caplights for use in mines not likely to be endangered by firedamp. When this part of the standard is used as a "stand-alone" document for non-gassy mines, any relevant constructional requirements should be the subject of agreement between the supplier and the user and, where possible, be as described in IEC 62013-1.

This part of IEC 62013 specifies requirements for the construction and testing of caplights, including caplights with a point of connection for another apparatus, for use in mines susceptible to firedamp (Group I - electrical apparatus for explosive gas atmospheres as defined in IEC 60079-0). It deals only with the risk of the caplight becoming a source of ignition. The requirements of IEC 60079-0 do not apply unless specified. This standard is also applicable to caplights intended for use in mines which have become temporarily endangered by an explosive gas atmosphere, for example in mine rescue operations. Caplights complying with this standard are intended for personal use under normal conditions of: Temperature: 0 °C to +40 °C Pressure: 0,8 bar to 1,1 bar.

Details those performance and other safety features not covered in Part 1 of IEC 62013, but which are neverthless important for the safety and working conditions of the user. It may also be applied to caplights for use in mines not likely to be endangered by firedamp. When this part of the Standard is used as a standalone document for non - gassy mines any relevent constructional requirements should be the subject of agreement between the supplier and the user and, where possible, be as described in IEC 62013-1

This European Standard prescribes the specific requirements related to the risk of a gas explosions for the construction and testing of caplights for use in mines susceptible to firedamp (electrical apparatus for potentially explosive atmosphere of group I). These specific requirements are supplemented by the following requirements which apply also to caplights for mines susceptible to firedamp: electrostatic charges of enclosures of plastic material and (permitted light alloys for enclosures) of EN 50014;internal connections, solid insulating materials and internal wiring of EN 50019
