General Information
This part of IEC 62722 covers specific performance and environmental requirements for luminaires, incorporating electric light sources for operation from supply voltages up to 1 000 V. Unless otherwise detailed, performance data covered under the scope of this document are for the luminaires in a condition representative of new manufacture, with any specified initial aging procedures completed.
This document covers requirements for luminaires to support energy efficient use and responsible environmental management to the end of life. The object of this document is to provide a set of requirements which are considered to be generally applicable to most types of luminaires. Where additional performance requirements for specific types of light source are relevant, these are specified in the IEC 62722-2 series. The IEC 62722-2 series can also cover a wider scope of performance aspects appropriate to the particular light source technology.
Semi-luminaires are not covered under the scope of this document.
For some types of luminaires (e.g. decorative or household) the provision of performance data under the scope of this document is not appropriate.

This document specifies the performance requirements for metal halide lamps for general lighting purposes. For some of the requirements given in this document, reference is made to "the relevant lamp data sheet". For some lamps, these data sheets are contained in this document. For other lamps, falling under the scope of this document, the relevant data are supplied by the lamp manufacturer or responsible vendor. The requirements of this document relate only to type testing. The requirements and tolerances specified in this document correspond to testing of a type test sample submitted by the manufacturer for that purpose. In principle this type test sample consists of units having characteristics typical of the manufacturer’s production and being as close to the production centre point values as possible. It can be expected that with the tolerances given in this document, the product manufactured in accordance with the type test sample will comply with this document for the majority of production. Due to the production spread however, it is inevitable that there will sometimes be products outside the specified tolerances. For guidance on sampling plans and procedures for inspection by attributes, see ISO 2859-10.

IEC 61167:2018 specifies the performance requirements for metal halide lamps for general lighting purposes. This fourth edition cancels and replaces the third edition published in 2015. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition. a) A set of new lamp data sheets has been introduced for lamp types designed for replacing high pressure sodium lamps. b) A set of new lamp data sheets has been introduced for 4 200 K versions of 3 000 K lamp types already in the standard. c) A set of new lamp data sheets has been introduced for new lamp types where high frequency ignition data is important. d) Annex G has been revised to incorporate high frequency ignition. As a consequence of this change, all data sheets in the standard have been revised to a new format. e) A new informative Annex K has been introduced, giving recommended methods of making lamp temperature measurements.

This International Standard applies to outdoor and indoor bushings of any voltage used on DC systems, of capacitance graded or gas insulated types for use as components of oil-filled converter transformers and smoothing reactors, as well as air-to-air DC bushings. This standard does not apply to the following: • cable terminations (potheads); • bushings for instrument transformers; • bushings for test power supplies; • bushings applied with gaseous insulation (other than air at atmospheric pressure) external to the bushing; • bushings for industrial application; • bushings for traction application; • bushings for distribution class transformers. This standard makes reference to IEC 60137 for general terms and conditions and defines the special terms used, operating conditions, ratings, test procedures as well as general mechanical and electrical requirements for bushings for DC application.

Gives technical requirements for tubular fluorescent lamps with preheated cathodes for general lighting service, operated with or without a starter from a.c. mains, also describes tests for the lamps with non-preheated cathodes operated without the use of a starter. Gives testing methods to be used for checking quality and interchangeability for type testing, for individual lamp batches or for a manufacturer's entire production. Consists of a series of standard data sheets, each giving the characteristics of a specific lamp type. Introduces new co-ordinates for the standard colours together with a new standard 'white' colour.
