IEC 61950:2019(E) specifies requirements for conduit fittings, including conduit bodies used with extra-heavy-duty electrical rigid steel (EHDERS) conduit conforming to IEC 60981.
This document does not include requirements for fittings intended for installation in potentially explosive atmospheres.
This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition published in 2007. This edition constitutes a technical revision.
This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
– change in title and scope to cover only fittings and accessories for use with extra­heavy­duty electrical rigid steel (EHDERS) conduits;
– new and updated definitions of terms;
– addition of requirements for expansion, expansion-deflection and deflection fittings;
– deletion of requirements for cast metal boxes.
A bilingual version of this publication may be issued at a later date.

IEC 60981:2019 specifies requirements for extra heavy-duty electrical rigid steel (EHDERS) conduits, couplings, nipples and elbows for electrical installations, including communications and fibre optics. This document also specifies threads for these components. It is not applicable to the conduits specified in IEC 60423. This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition published in 2004. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the second edition:
- addition of provisions for alternative coatings to zinc;
- addition of elasticity test for organic coatings;
- new Annex B on tests for evaluating alternative exterior coatings applied on extra heavy­duty electrical rigid steel (EHDERS) conduits.

This International Standard specifies requirements for conduit and cable fittings including cast metal boxes and conduit bodies used with extra-heavy duty electrical rigid steel (EHDERS) conduit conforming to IEC 60981. This edition constitutes a technical revision. It incorporates numerous additional tables which are significant changes to the first edition including: revision and update; new requirements necessitated by the proliferation of communication cables used in connection with EHDERS conduits and fittings
