This Standard specifies methods for measuring the performance of electric storage water heaters to produce domestic potable or non-potable hot water for household and similar use. The object is to state and define the principal performance characteristics of electric storage water heaters and to describe the test methods for measuring these characteristics. NOTE 1 This standard does not apply to; - storage water heaters that use electricity as a secondary source of heating the water; - storage water heaters that do not use a tank to storage hot water; - electric storage water heaters that do not meet the minimum (or maximum) output performance of the smallest (or biggest) load profile, as defined in Table 4. - water-heaters without thermal insulation NOTE 2 This standard does not specify safety requirements. For safety requirements see IEC 60335-1 in conjunction with IEC 60335-2-21.

IEC 60704-2-18:2022 applies to single-unit electric water heaters for household and similar use intended for placing on the floor against a wall, for building-in or placing under a counter, a kitchen worktop or under a sink, for wall-mounting or on a counter. This document does not apply to: – combustion water heaters; – water kettles; – heat pump water heaters; – conventional electric storage water heaters as defined in IEC 60335-2-21:2012, Clause 1; – instantaneous electric water heaters without any noise-producing components such as motors and pumps. This document is intended to be used in conjunction with IEC 60704‑1:2021.

This clause of IEC 63159-1:2021 is applicable except as follows. Addition: This document applies to open outlet, single point-of-use, electric instantaneous water heaters intended for household or similar use, for showering purposes without downstream mixing. This document only specifies tests for the assessment of energy efficiency. This document does not apply to electrical instantaneous water heaters covered by other parts of this series of standards.

This clause of IEC 63159-1:2021 is applicable with the following exception: Addition: This document applies to electrical instantaneous water heaters designed to operate as multifunctional appliances with an electric rated power > 2 kW. This document specifies tests for the assessment of the performance.

This document applies to electric instantaneous water heaters for domestic hot water heating for household and similar applications, which show both of the following characteristics: - fulfilling at least one load pattern from Annex A; - heating up to temperatures below the boiling temperature. This document specifies terms, definitions and measurement methods for the assessment of energy efficiency. This document does not take into account requirements regarding the safety of the appliances.

This standard applies to electric direct -acting room heaters. They may be portable,
stationary, fixed, or built-in.
It does not apply to:
— thermal-storage room heaters (IEC 531);
- heating appliances incorporated in the building structure;
- central heating systems;
— heaters connected to an air duct;
- wall-paper, carpets or drapes incorporating flexible heating elements.
This standard defines the main performance characteristics of direct-acting room
heaters and specifies methods for measuring these characteristics, for the information of
users.
This standard does not specify values for performance characteristics.
NOTE - This standard does not deal with:

IEC 60675-3:2020 applies to electric direct-acting room heaters. This document defines performance characteristics related to the radiant effect and specifies methods for measuring the radiation efficiency for the information of users. This document is used to measure the radiation efficiency of direct-acting room heaters. This International Standard is to be used in conjunction with IEC 60675:1994, IEC 60675:1994/AMD1:1998 and IEC 60675:1994/AMD2:2018.

IEC 60675-2:2020 applies to electric direct-acting room heaters. This document defines performance characteristics related to the radiant effect and specifies methods for measuring the radiant factor for the information of users. This document is used to measure the radiant factor of direct-acting room heaters. This International Standard is to be used in conjunction with IEC 60675:1994, IEC 60675:1994/AMD1:1998 and IEC 60675:1994/AMD2:2018.

This International Standard defines the main performance characteristics of electric blankets, wraps and duvets and specifies methods for measuring these characteristics, for the information of users. This International Standard does not specify values for performance characteristics. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: a) extended classification; b) extended list of measurements; c) temperature measurement means changed to thermocouples.

IEC 61255:2014 applies to electric heating pads for household use. This International Standard defines the main performance characteristics of electric heating pads and specifies methods for measuring these characteristics, for the information of users. This International Standard does not specify values for performance characteristics. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: a) extended classification; b) extended list of measurements; c) temperature measurement means changed to thermocouples.

IEC 60704-2-2:2009 provides the methods of determination of airborne acoustical noise emitted by electric fan heaters, designed for placing on the floor, table or counter,etc., or for wall mounting supplied from mains or from batteries. The main changes from the previous edition are as follows: provisions with regard to measurement uncertainty and standard deviation for declaration and verification have been included in the scope. This publication is to be read in conjunction with IEC 60704-1:2010.

Applies to the electric thermal storage room heaters having forced convection output, designed for placing on the floor, for wall-mounting or for building-in.

Applies to electric storage heaters intended to heat the room in which they are located. It defines the main performance characteristics and describes methods for measuring these characteristics. It does not apply to heating appliances incorporated in the building structure, to central heating systems or to floor heating appliances.
